NZ Form XV after round 6

@mariner4life Kaino isn't used much in the lineout for the ABs, certainly not as often as he could be for someone his height. Read and Whitelock are the main targets with BBBR as the third option.
I think our next long-term no.6 might be currently playing at 7 - Cane. A bit like Michael Jones' transition.
Squire is probably the player they see as the backup blindside flanker at the moment but he still has plenty of work to do.

Cane, Read, Surveyor?
Could be worth a crack although I do also wonder if it weakens the lineout by lessening the possible targets for the opposition to watch.
Given that Ardie is 6'10" shouldn't he be more proficient in the lineout?
The joke that never gets old

@Crucial Either Cane or Surveyor could be used as a jumper, particularly if using the locks as lifters (ala the Chiefs).
Remember McCaw was often used as a lineout target, as was Messam at the front, and both were secure enough. They are all of a similar height (minus the haircut of course).

@MN5 Still available for selection.
Ah ok but not in the frame ?
We'll see come selection time. He was off playing in Japan and then Sevens last year, so wasn't available for selection.

I think I read an interview where he said he would love to play in black again but his focus was on playing well for the Chiefs. Anything that came from that was a bonus.
In other words he is not going out there with impressing the AB selectors in mind.Sounds like Rugby cliches 101 to me. I bet he's taking each game as it comes too.

|t will be a season of two halves.

Less the jumper that would be the issue, more the lifter. You need a primary lifter for each jumper. Kaino is a big lifter, so you swap him for a smaller guy who is not as strong you might not see it in Kainos lineout stats, but you'll see it in Whitelocks or Reads.

Messam had lost his place since before the World Cup and barely made the squad though.
He's great as a "badass mother who don't take no crap off of nobody" waterboy though.
