    @Donsteppa True that. Hamilton have had some truly fucked up tourist catchphrases. To think, someone came up with 'more than you expect' and a whole bunch of people went YEAH. THAT'S IT!! I still haven't been able to bleach my mind of the tv ad of the most cringeworthy nature, you remember the one with some douchebags walking along the wing of a grounded plane. A woman sang the song. Something about Hamilton is moving. (Maybe it was moooo-ving and cleverer than I thought.)

    Appears like it'll be a test disrupted by weather.

    While not as bleak as the Richard De Groen days, I hold a realistic no hope for a win here. No miracle performances this time, we're lacking too many of our best players to beat these South Africans.

    Inspirational choice of player! Grubby de Groen played in a winning test against South Africa IN South Africa . . .

    http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63668.html

    How did the rest of that tour work out?

    A lot of bad PR for NZ Cricket - heaven forbid! Luckily Fleming was never selected again.

    Howarth, Rutherford and Morrison all had their reputations destroyed on that tour

    Is everyone too scared to talk about the cricket for fear of applying the kiss of death?

    SA bowled out for 314.
    BCs 67/0 in reply.

    Yes you read that right, 67 runs without loss.
    Great to see Latham tough it out after his lean run lately. He was actually given out to a shocker early on, which was overturned on review.

    Hopefully the rain stays away.

    Great start. It could be tough to get a result but glad to see some runs being scored. If Latham can score runs here that must give him confidence that he can overcome down patches.

    Yeah the Jeet in the team that isn't an overrated shit heap ( Hearing Jerry Coney on the Radio trying to say they've 'given the ball to Patel to try and get some turn' with a straight face was hilarious ) has been remarkable in his consistency. No peaks or troughs yet.

    @Gunner

    I'm probably about to jinx Tommy by saying this but man it was good to see a black cap opener in a form slump figuring out where he had an issue and grift through an innings to get his touch back. Watching him leave anything outside off was such a joy and makes me feel like we've got someone who has the ability to be an all time great black cap opener.
