Six Nations 2017

Well that was a lot of fun in the end. Good to see the midfield click into place again and JJ remind people what he can do with front foot ball. Would be surprised if he isn't lining up at 13 for the Lions come June. Lawes has also gone from 4th choice lock for England to someone who'd be pretty hard to drop, even when Kruis and Robshaw return.
Massive game next weekend against Ireland for a possible back to back grand slam. Sure they will be well up for it with a point to prove after the Welsh game, so it should be a cracking test
-
Always hate it when the press start talking about records....back to back this...never been done before shit
Ireland will be well up for this, nothing to lose, pride to restore after a shitty performance against Wales where they couldn't even cross the line etc...seem to remember it was Ireland who spoiled our party -
Indeed. A few irish players have already talked about bouncing back from a poor performance against Wales (and Scotland). It's not about stopping England as some commentators seem to think. England have already won the Championship.
Besides I don't think Rory Best can do the required O'Connell 'pep talk'.
Farrell's defensive systems are not working and I suspect that England's wide runners are going to have a field day.
I can't see Ireland winning tbh, the only question will be the size of the loss.
-
@Pot-Hale And yet PH it wasn't that long ago that Farrell's defence was being lauded by some. I dunno quite what to make of your guys' performances. Ireland are still a very good side and are more than capable of raining on our parade next week, though I agree for them it will be all about their own performance rather than a "we must stop England" sort of thing.
I'm just hoping for a good match with both sides looking to play rugby - oh fuck it, I can't lie, I just want to win
-
I think Schmidt's time is coming to an end. Getting outplayed by Wales and Scotland is enough for me. He has far more resources to pick from yet that's the best he can come up with. Forget the win against NZ. That was truly a one off.
They're capable of stopping England because they play a risk free, grind down the opposition type of game but its puke rugby and only good for the odd one off victory.

Funny how it is up to Ireland to stop the role again.
I hope England get it. Something to strive for again
After reading Stephen Jones latest jizzfest ( fresh from winning Rugby writer of the year yet again, who is he against ? Chris Rattue ? ) I'll be remembering that I'm almost as Irish as I am Scottish and embracing the heritage like an alcoholic does on St Paddys day.
Smash those fucken poms!!!!!

I find it kind of bizarre as it can't be clickbait as we aren't the audience.
Fair dinkum doesn't seem to like the AB's does he.
There will be a touch of shadenfruede if Ireland tip them over, I must admit
I agree. Peter Fitzsimons wrote stuff to wind up kiwis but at least it was clever and witty. The Walrus kinda has a condescending attitude towards a team that is quite rightly number one in the world....
Wonder how he feels about all the islanders in his beloved England team too ?

But is he really digging at NZer's? Seems like a waste of newspaper space. Bit of a weak jab if that is the case.

I don't hope they get it, but I certainly will not bothered if they get it...upto the Irish to play spoilers again.
-
I'll never understand how you lads go out of your way to read and get wound up by a journo on the other side of the world writing behind a paywall. I really couldn't be bothered personally wasting the energy on Spiro, Rattue, Francis etc.
Beloved England team? He's Welsh FFS, don't blame us for him.
-
@Margin_Walker I used to get wound up by his drivel when I was living in the UK, but he is easy to avoid and ignore now...unlike Twattue who people like link without warnings, especially @MN5

Stephen Jones is just playing it smart. He says everything the English like to hear and winds up other nations. He knows who his audience is so he is kissing English ass while at the same time being controversial when it comes to other countries. The English are used to seeing the opposite so Jones has carved out a niche for himself there.
I don't think he dislikes other nations but knows how to push certain buttons so he is talked about more. And let's face it, it has worked.

Be great if England took the record, I'll be cheering for them. Remarkable effort given the fallout from the RWC - have to give Eddie some credit there, he knows what he's doing at the top level.
I could give 0 fucks if there are people that take pleasure from the fact the ABs record will be overtaken.

Totally agree. Records are there to be broken and if England do manage it then that record will be there to be broken. Whilst it is a nice record for any side to have, each individual match is ore important - you always target the next match. Always.

It's not England's fault that the international schedule has prevented them from playing the All Blacks - the implication being they wouldn't have won 18 in a row had such a fixture existed. They've won against every team that has taken the field and in doing so have an excellent opportunity to set a new Tier One record and simultaneously be the first to win successive 6N Grand Slams. Good luck to them.
