Six Nations 2017

@taniwharugby we're trying to bait the English blokes on here. No bites yet but I was hoping for something this evening.
-
@No-Quarter ah my bad, the English record will be meaningless, for 1 they didn't even play NZ, how can you claim a record if you haven't beat the best, that's akin to the Saffas winning the 2007 RWC without playing us (2 birds)
That's without even going down the route the Poms record wont count because of the tier caveat!
-
I think the English current run of 16 all have been played only against Tier 1 teams by a Tier 1 team.
A true Tier 1 record!

I think that if the average pom learned one thing from last Sunday it's that sometimes not engaging in the manner expected can thwart an opponent's tactics...
-
Nah, Would personally be far more disappointed at the impact on a potential Grand Slam/6N Championship if we lost to Scotland or Ireland. Record is nice, but really doesn't mean a lot.

Uruguay?
That would be 17 on the trot if included. PH was being a little disingenuous.
-
@Catogrande I had a suspicion that might be the case, after posting and started to check... but then couldn't be arsed.
A sign of true laziness, when one decides to allow one's self to look like a fucking idiot, rather than quick fact-checking, or even just deleting post. -

You are Donald Trump, and I claim my prize

Au contraire. I wasn't including Uruguay deliberately. They don't count as a proper Tier One test. So it's 16 on the trot for me. Which is pretty impressive. Has another tier one team done that before?

Giving them grief more like. Prood of the boys for being ahead of Wales and the Argies too.
When did these rankings start? After a grand slam in 1990 and a semi final finish in the 1991 WC the mighty Scots woulda been ranked at least 4th ? ( helped by S.A. not being around to be fair )

The actual rankings weren't around then but this site http://www.lassen.co.nz/pickandgo.php has reverse engineered them and you'll be pleased to know that Scotland reached the giddy heights of 2nd in 1990

Still one of my best rugby memories. I wasn't at Murrayfield itself but was living in Edinburgh at the time and watching in a pub in the New Town. I have never ever witnessed a city go off like it did that day. Every pub in Rose St had queues outside all night long. Quiet little bars were having to cope with the overflow and think there is many a Scots lad or Lassie that can trace their conception to that wonderful day.
The drama of the game was immense, from the slow walk out by the Scots to they sheer look of fear in the eyes of the Poms.
One of the best. Rates alongside the AB series win in SA in watching pleasure. -

Jeffrey and Calder weren't that big even by amateur standards, both were 30 odd, looked 50 odd but still looked younger than the English props and fuck they were a tenacious pair. Sole was a great leader too and Tony Stanger....wonder when the last time he had to buy a pint was?
