@hydro11 ah you being deliberately obtuse?

One of the angles I saw clearly showed a head clash, so I obviously saw something you didn't.

Nah. The angle that shows head clash is an optical illusion.

Pat T is heading home for personal reasons. Don't think he would have played anyway, but hope for him it's not another bereavement.

Edit: old news, I see ...

His form has been very disappointing. I hope "personal reasons" doesn't mean he's be on the booze, or broke team protocol etc.

They would have said that if he did, no need to start rumours.

Not had much luck with the locks availability on this tour.

I'm not starting rumours. You can infer what you want from my comment

A rumour would be me posting "I heard from someone in the know that paddy was on the piss".

No, what you posted floats it as a rumour too. Anyway, as I said the AB management aren't shy of hanging a player out to dry if they break rules on tour. So at best your post was pointless speculation.

I hope the judiciary have better video to view than we do. The trouble seems to be that the whole thing is so quick that 24fps (or whatever it is) doesn't catch the same frames from each angle. I am stuff if I can manage to stop the reverse angle one at the same impact moment as the angle from behind Cane.
Watch Henshaws head. from behind Cane you can clearly see him leading toward Cane with his head first. In the other angle you can only catch his head leaning back looking like he has taken impact from the shoulder. It's like there is missing film.
Henshaws head goes straight into Cane's neck/jaw first, then the shoulder connects.
As mentioned by others Cane isn't even expecting to make a tackle, He is coming in fast to support the expected tackle that Henshaw spins out of and straight at him head first.
The whole thing is a freak accident and one of those things that can happen when bodies are bouncing around at speed.

I'm sorry Billy but I'm going to use your post as an example of what's fucked in the world of media and social media.

This leaping to speculative unfound conclusions in the hope of saying "see told ya" is grossly unfair.

The Hansen no comment strategy is designed to allow the man some privacy, not an invitation to smear him based on fantasy.

Why can't people just say "well let's reserve judgment till the facts are out" and if no facts come out then what the hell it's nobody's business but those directly related.

Speculating booze or breaking rules is pointless, derogatory and unhelpful.

Whats the difference between your speculation and "hope he hasn't been fucking kids and raping nuns" ?

There are countless examples of sports people getting tainted by people speculating and making shit up for their personal titilation.

Let's not further publically plumb the depths of fuckwittery.

It wasn't actually a head clash. Reverse angle shows it clearly

Reckless, but not malicious IMHO. Slowmo always looks shit, but Cane has come in at the wrong height and then, realising it, has turned away.

Understand Hansen wasn't happy about the questions on discipline after the game, too. Some Irishmen definitely aren't:

    Later, Kinsella also said this:

I will say that the Irish 8 made a huge mistake in taking his shoulders off the scrum, but Read left his side just on suspicion.

Its only a couple of frames in it.

I feel sorry for any player getting injured, but the universe sometimes has its ways of restoring balance (karma?):

    @NTA

Both 8s break before the ball is out IMO - as you say, pretty simultaneously.

Is an attacking 8 allowed to detach before the ball is at his feet?

No you are being absurd. If you look at that video you see that there is a clear separation between the two players' heads. The angle you saw was a poor angle and not the best way to look at it. Are you really trying to argue that even though there was a clear separation of the heads, another angle could show a head clash? It's ridiculous. You cannot have a head clash, unless the heads actually touch. You seem to be arguing that there are two realities, one where a head clash occurred and one where a head clash did not occur.

If you have clear evidence of a head clash, then you should post it.

Technically the scrum ends when the ball is at his feet and he unbinds.

World Rugby Passport - Laws of the Game

20.10 (c) Hindmost player unbinds. The hindmost player in a scrum is the player whose feet are nearest the team’s own goal line. If the hindmost player unbinds from the scrum with the ball at that player’s feet and picks up the ball, the scrum ends.

Read has probably gambled a bit on when Heaslip would detach, thinking maybe that Ireland would run from 8.

Its a close one, and Peyper is the kind of ref who will just let the players sort it out. I haven't seen the game so don't know what the penalty was actually given for.

Yeah, but Heaslip unbinds before the ball was at his feet (at about the same time Read does). Scrum can't be over, so could be a penalty either way? Not sure what to make of it to be honest.

@SimonAdd_2 yep, it's all in the timing, and who the ref happened to be looking at. They clamped down on the attacking #8 changing channels a couple of years ago to combat this very thing. Heaslip definitely unbinds early, and tries to re-bind (penalisable) but i think Read does go first. Result: Penalty Ireland. But again, to call "blatant!!" and whinge for more than just the penalty is fucking ludicrous.

This really is delicious. I always loved beating the Irish more than anyone else because of their huge amounts of entitled whinging, but had softened, especially after the other week. The last couple of days has set the world straight again.

Sorry Pot Hale, you've been pretty good recently, but some of your compatriots need to have a fucking look at themselves. Just shows that expectation is a bitch.
