In all seriousness, a bit of context: I'm from Canada but live in Ireland. There is NOBODY still talking about that game here, never mind whining, it hasn't been mentioned since the Monday morning coffee conversations. One or two journos are NOT representative of the general population, in fact they have the same opinion of the the journos most mentioned on here as you guys. Probably the difference is that rugby is a minority sport here, maybe fourth in line, so everyone just moved on to the next thing pretty quickly. Personally I think they have a healthy attitude to sport, enjoy it without letting it get too heavy (apart from Gaelic football maybe, which can be a bit crazy!!). It was actually a kiwi who pointed me to this forum, to show me how intense the whole rugby thing is in NZ.

One minor retort/rant - the attempt to label Best as some kind of cry-baby, sook, or whatever other NZ phrase is appropriate is just wrong.
He was asked a question about people getting injured and he responded that no one likes to see anyone getting stretchered off a pitch. There was more to it than that, in that article he said he pleaded with the ref to go upstairs on two occasions -Barrets try which was a try and he said Fekitoa scored off a forward pass .He has no right to tell a ref to go upstairs and he was wrong on both counts anyway. He was whinging, its beggars belief that theres a perception from the Irish media that somehow their team was hard done by in that game and they are still whining about it now .

Best said he asked ref to go upstairs on Barret try. If he did, why was he wrong to ask? All teams do this.
Why was it wrong? The grounding was not obvious and clear.

@Pot-Hale he whined about the ref not going upstairs when he asked , the ref doesn't take instructions from him for obvious reasons . He was wrong both times anyway so Christ knows why he took it upon himself to tell that to a reporter.

I didn't read the Francis article. I half read the stuff re-write of it and gave up. Francis is in a world of his own when he gets an idea into his head. It's not worth following him there.

A good attitude to sport? There was mass hysteria when Thierry Henry robbed them of going to the soccer world cup a few years back, and they were trying to ban French wine and cheese in supermarkets as a result.
When they lose to ozzie in the gaelic rules, its usually because the ozzies roughed them up... And then there was the Irish boxer who gave the judge the finger when he lost at the Olympics this year... And no other country plays hurling to "rob" them of a win unfortunately

I hope our ladies give them a right hiding. After this week I'm also back anybody else but the Irish to host the RWC 2023

That's all completely over the top and completely at odds with my experience and all other expats I know. They do have a tendency to wind people up for fun, maybe you're just falling for that?
The thing about banning French goods is completely untrue...hilarious but still false. Who told you that?
