add me to the enthralled camp. It's fucking tough cricket, no one ever really looks in control, which makes a few of the innings played top draw. Then add in the subplots, the off-field stuff, the at times disgraceful behaviour on-field, and it's great fund as a neutral.

@mariner4life I feel as if I am your 'Yes Man' today. Just bouncing around liking your post and shet.

Kholi fucked up big time on the last day by not bowling the two spinners together from the start of the day. Bowling one quick for the first 3 hours meant that the ball became soft very quickly, pressure was only applied from one end and the Aussie batsmen were allowed to not play the majority of the balls they faced against the quicks. He's treated like a God in India of course and won't be accountable for one of the worst captaincy displays I have ever seen.

@gollum I think that's a pretty narrow definition of a 'great test'. The beauty of test cricket, for mine, is the wildly different ways each game can unfold.
No I really don't. But I get you want to paint me that way
A great test for me is one where its not all over by day 3 in terms of a contest. It sure as feck isn't one where sides can't get to 100, or a side can get to 600 if they take 2 days to do it, and then the opther side takes a day & a half to get to 450
There are any number of great series in the last few years, the 2005 Ashes, the 2001 Indian tour, etc. Basically a series where you don't sides winning tests by 300 or an innings tend to indicate a pretty good contest.
I don't have issue with it being interesting or good to watch, the bit I called out was the idea this is potentially the greatest series since 2005.

Nah @gollum a great test match is one you're hooked into from the go.

Because it is. It's riveting.

Really, you too think this is the greatest series since 2005?
This series?
I'm pretty sure I could name at least 5, hell, probably 2 Ashes alone. Pakistan in England last year was superb, India in SA a few years back purely to watch Tendulkar v Steyn.
Like I say, I totally buy folks find this is good to watch, but the BEST SERIES since 2005? WTF...
-
@gollum name them then and go what videos of them you miserable old curmudgeon.
Can't you enjoy it for what it is? Where's the joy in your life?
-
@gollum and you're in danger of trying to argue against a point someone didn't actually say.
"Because it's riveting" isnt "This is the best series since 2000". That sort of stuff has copped bans on other threads...

This is a bloody great series. Best since the 2005 Ashes I reckon. Another amazing finish, so much ticker from Marsh and Handscomb in the face of enormous pressure.
Read some... then threaten to ban me

Who was threatening to ban you? Just reminding you of what is unacceptable behaviour. Your implication was @Hooroo had said something that he hadn't. @barbarian had.
And geez even he was just saying how much he was enjoying these games.
It's really quite pathetic to make an argument like that. Especially when people are talking about how much they're enjoying some sport.
Save the vitriol for something that matters ... like a US election thread that isn't even close.

Whats unacceptable behgaviour? Replying to someone saying this was the best serries in 12 years with "no I don't think it is"?
You didn't read the conversation, just jumped in & then decided what I was arguing was the sort of thing that gets a ban, pull your fricking head in.
-
I can buy that, Smith has be huge in this series, he's flat out carried them with a little bit of help from Renshaw (20 fricking years old) & Maxwell in the last one. But overall its been a solo effort. When you look at the teams that have failed in India over the years & the players they've had, doing it with Warner struggling, Renshaw & Handscomb on their first tour, Marsh in the side etc, its amazing. Toss in Starc being crook.

- Yes I did read the conversation.
- One poster made a comment which you then assigned to another.
- Please don't do that it's really annoying. Putting words into people's mouths is not encouraged.
- There was no threat of a ban. It was intended as a general heads up about the above.
- Let's now cheers up and enjoy the cricket. Three enthralling test matches to date.

If you wouldn't put your penis in there, certainly don't put words in there.
Way to make it all wierd dude.
