That pitch looks atrocious, but I reckon that plays right into our hands. If they want to make it a complete lottery, they are only hurting themselves.
Though weirdly the one thing we might really miss is Mitch Starc's batting. Those quickfire 20-30s have been invaluable.

50 inside 10 overs that has some variable stuff in it already. Not bad
-
The second session was good viewing - Aussie moving along nicely after those earlier wickets. Maxwell was accelerating nicely too.
Fuck me, How many of this Indian squad give a shit about fielding? some right barry crockers going down. They have some sharp guys but sometimes they couldn't look less interested!

Fielding isn't thrashwanked over by Indian fans. Batting is. And they'll have to be pretty fucking special with their batting later in this Test.
Interesting fact: Mitch Marsh has a better batting average this series than Kohli.
Which means the fucking Indian skipper is due. And the pitch wasn't coated in mines either by the sounds, so we'll see how it breaks up.

That's a great first day for Aus. dmith is class, and Maxwell might be right about his test abilities.
Considering the text commentary from the first 10 overs thats a huge amount of runs

Yeah - you've got to think this pitch will be dynamite to bat on in the 4th innings, so Oz are way ahead of the game. If I were India I wouldn't have been that happy if Oz had been bowled out for 250.

Dirk Nannes saying that India didn't clap Smith's ton - maybe because Kohli was off the field at the time, and they had no idea what to do without him there?
Nannes was critical of the Aussies for not giving Roscoe Taylor a pat on the back at the end of his 290 as well. I've listened to Nannes in commentary and, like a lot of the blokes hired by ABC radio, he's pretty good.

I wonder if the management told them off? A couple of Indian players ran over to shake Smiths hand at the end of the day

Maxwell with a very impressive hundred. Well done to that bloke, living his dream, proving his doubters wrong.
Aus 331-4 ans well ahead in the game
