Black Caps tour of India

Santner and Latham, take a bow. What a day.
-
Some interesting stats on highest 4th innings totals in India...
-
What a great day. I think we won all 3 sessions comfortably. Whatever we end up setting them now we'll be the favourites, but India still in the game. Another 50 runs will make it extremely tough and another 100 (for a lead of 400) will be as close to a guarantee as you get in test cricket.
This partnership is going to be important tomorrow. If they can find those next 50 runs then it puts us a really good position for the tail to wag against a tired and deflated bowling attack. On the other hand, if they can break it early they'll back themselves to clean things up quickly and limit the chase to 350.

2 days of test cricket.
25 wickets fallen.
513 runs scored.
Actioned packed by any form’s standard.

@canefan how was it a "warm up" when we've played mostly, the same team?
I mean that we had no warm up games in SL, so in hindsight we did not take that series seriously enough. It only served to get us used to sub continental conditions, and we have been dramatically better in India
-
It wouldn’t be cricket if you couldn’t bag players and then they then went and put in good performances. Almost feel I should take credit for Latham 80 lol. I’m still trying to get my head around Satners incredible bowling performance.
Need to find a few more runs before I get too excited but fantastic effort so far

We had a warmup against Afghanistan. Strictly not Sri Lanka, but NZC did try to be fair to them

With a lead of 301, by the massive underdog, with 5 second innings wickets in hand.
If we can get another 50-70 runs then we have a great chance, although you can never count out India with the batting lineup they have.

From Reddit poster
383 innings with targets over 300
20 successful
283 failed
80 drawnIn India it's 1-26-9
The one caveat is that the run chase will start on a day 3 wicket. I haven’t seen the wicket but i expect it was pretty dry to start with already. But the point still stands, it will be a day 3 wicket as opposed to a mid day 4 or day 5 start to the run chase.

I doubt nz will make 200 in any of the 6 innings. And I'm expecting 'normal' pitches, not bunsens
Didn't expect much from Kane anyway, tbh.
A couple of runs short of 3 from 3 so far assuming you don’t count the last innings of the last test.
( I’m shocked too )

Never, never underestimate the Caps ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Been awesome to watch though.Test cricket played at a rollicking pace like this is always good, we’re still only on day 3 today !
We need a pretty big score from one or both of these guys, possibly unfair to expect Santner or Southee to go large again.

For some reason, I had it in my head that we were 3 days in and batting on day 4 with a lead of 300, so was thinking it would be good to declare around lunch...
Given it's only day 3 today, may as well bat to tea or so.
I did too but there’s been quick run rates and no rain delays.
I think they need to bat til they’re all out personally !

Probably need 4 sessions to bowl India out, depending on conditions.
