So much for my thinking that neither Jacobson or Finau would start.

Waikato named for their round 6 Bunnings NPC clash with Hawke’s Bay Magpies.

Waikato return to Hamilton and will host Hawke s Bay Magpies at FMG Stadium Waikato in round 6 of the Bunnings NPC on...

Interesting seeing Wrampling and Tupaea swapping positions from earlier in the year.

Would rather see 12 Tupaea, 13 Wrampling, 14 Sullivan but still interesting seeing Wrampling getting more time in the midfield. Tupaea will no doubt roam.

Also glad to see TCS at fullback.

Yeah, I would have expected Wrampling or Sullivan on the wing.

    Moorby is injured.

I see that Finau was at training today - so much for only being involved from Friday.

Moorby had been very Chase Tiatia-like for me this year. Sometimes looks like a man among boys, sometimes has a big case of the dropsies.

    Make that four for Leuila.

    Hopeless tackling from Hawkes Bay.

    Leuila with his 4th try

He’s running hard but they are pathetic attempts

Waikato not quite at a point a minute. 43-5 after 45mins

Just got back from the game. The rain was heavier than what it may have looked like on TV. The heaviest rain was during the 2nd half of the curtain-raiser, and there was a lot of surface water.

The first 40 mins was the best I can remember Waikato playing in a long time, given the conditions. The Wrampling brothers were superb, but no one played badly. Jacobson and Finau had a big impact, as you would hope they would. Territorial kicking was important on the night.

I was thinking that there might be a RS hangover for HB.

Masterful game control from Leuila and Roe. Their positional kicking stressed HB all day. Thought McWhannell, Norris and Dyer had great all-round games too.
Grigg ran hard for HB but not too much else offered.

You also forgot to factor the Pies not turning up as well.

Sheesh, that's our worst performance against Waikato, and we once shipped 100 against them in the bad old days when we were confined to the old 2nd division.

Hopefully it's a post RS loss blip.
