Sititi may have played 6 once subs came on but certainly never started there for the Chiefs IIRC. I'd say out of the three positions it is the one Sititi has the least experience in. Again, the loose forward mix is unbalanced when Savea is always at no.8.
For me I just want to see him play better. He’s our number 8 and short of a Zinny or a Kieran Read type appearing in the NPC, then he’s the man. We just need him to find some of that 2023 form.
Trying Sititi at blindside isn’t a bad strategy. Certainly add some speed. At this point of his career I’m not too concerned about him starting there. We’ve done it before with a host of players who then settled into a role.
If he does a Jerry Collins-level positional shift I won't complain.

True, JC and Rodders were 8 and 6 respectively when they first played for Wellington then things changed for the ( even ) better

Ethan Blackadder is injured
Shock
Horror
So much for Ethan being over his injuries then

Ethan Blackadder is injured that is the reason Sititi is starting and Jacobsen is on the bench.
He was due. Hes had his handful of games, time for him to wrap up for 6 months and we will see him again for a cameo in super rugby season.
-
Jacobson not Jacobsen. He's not a Danish architect.

So, Finau is nowhere? Is he injured?
Can't find anything online but imagine he is just not required F'now.

@ACT-Crusader the funny thing about Savea's 2023 form was he played fucking TIGHT. Think back to those RWC play-offs. He was all graft. Carried in the tight, actually hit rucks. Was far narrower than at any other time under those coaches. He was like a different player. Less YouTube shit, just hard footy.
Big ups to his Japanese sabbatical. Perfect preparation for test footy

in fairness, it worked for Jerome. He came back niggle free, fast and fit.

The problem is it's Ardie who will run out on Saturday, not Jerome

Point is it isn't the sabbatical that's the issue (necessarily)

Right, so the rookie that actually plays 6 has had his confidence shot so isn't being picked. Now it's time to throw the other rookie in out of position in a must win game against SA in SA. Makes perfect sense, not a massive fucking gamble at all.
-
if that is the actual team, then i cannot wait to hear the official chat around it.
I didn't think the starting side did too much wrong. BB paying the price for those kicking errors i guess we all called for, but that resulting in an entirely new back 3 is a huge call.
TJP has his best test of the year and gets the chop is a big call.
A Blackadder injury obviously forced a hand. That hand being Sititi as a complete rookie in an unfamiliar position is a huge call. A rookie who is my height i might add. The saffers will be hunting that Savea at 2 ball hard this week.
Then the bench is the same as last week, except, seeya Finau, that's your immediate test future cooked. But, more interestingly, Jacobson comes on to the bench. Which makes sense if you think Finau just doesn't have it, and Dalton is still unavailable. But if Dalton is available this is fairly big call.I'll sort of need to see to believe.

I was actually wondering if Finau's May shoulder injury was more serious than thought.. just a stinger the media said at the time but he wasn't even hard-tackling with highlights regularity..
