NRL 2024

Enjoy watching other teams play finals with us warriors fans.
Nice win, should extend Ricky for another 5 -
7 teams have finals locked in. St George are very nervous given a host of chasing teams have a better for and against than them.
One of the Dolphins or the Broncos will be out this week. Newcastle are trying to emulate last year and sneak in on the last weekend.Penrith dropped to 4th on for and against. Melbourne wrapped up the minor premiership. The Dogs are still in the hunt for top 4. Hurry up and get to the finals already.
-
no. no it will not be.
-
Cant remember who plays Melbourne in the last couple, but Bellamy has said now it is secure, he will rest some key players. Probably half a chance for chasing pack, if it is one of them.
St George at least have Parra this week and dont often lose two in a row.. but at least it keeps things interesting
The Annesley press conference will be interesting today, some woeful inconsistent calls regarding high tackles all weekend, surely you cant defend that, probably better for a change to throw a few under the bus. -

If Canberra were cared about, or coached by anyone else, then the drums would be beating. They got flogged, again (that's a combined 28-88 in the last 2 weeks alone), sit 12 on the ladder, and have the same for-and-against as the Bunnies, who the media already managed to get their coach fired.
Even without his fluffer in chief Paul Kent defending him, the chat around his current contract is almost non-existent. The Raiders lost a GF 5 years ago, and that seems to be the defense used. Jason Demetriou lost one 3 years ago and is gone. Brad Arthur lost one 2 years ago and he is already gone as well. You can't unpeel sticky though.
Sticky is taking Canberra nowhere
Thanks Mariner. After decades as a devoted Raiders fan, couldn't bear to even look up the result yesterday against the amazing Panthers. Too hard to take when Sticky is taking them nowhere.
Cant work out if this was tongue in cheek or if for real? Seriously, do you really feel Canberra are doing ok, surely you dont think as a fan you expect more from the team given the roster they have had the past few years?
Anyway, I dont think any team has escaped a barrage from all at some stage, unless you're actually delivering results which only a couple of teams have, most of our teams deserve it

thankfully we only have to put up with one more Warriors "performance" this year.

I went along on Saturday. It was typical of our performances this year. Started well on the back of a few mistakes by the opposition, but a lack of creativity and cutting edge on attack meant that we didn't make good use of our opportunities. As the mistakes dried up and the ref helped the Dogs out our error rate climbed and we deteriorated

yeah when we went up 12-0 i knew we would lose. It's been the same all season. We just don't score enough points when the going is good.
-
12 points seems to be our achilles heel, enough for us to think we're ok and then we somehow capitulate. As you say not good enough at scoring more when the going is good.
In saying that, I think we missed a lot more tackles this year that should have been made for whatever reason.
-
@bayimports our edge "defense" was back to the bad old days. No trust, leaking points all over the shop.
-
Thrilled to watch Luai throw a game losing intercept pass and reflect that we're going to be paying him millions...

TBH it was kind of comforting to return to the usual pattern of excitement in the first half of the year and then hate watching for the second half, instead of the excitement all season long of last year.

The NRL really is becoming the Premier League
In th last 14 seasons, the following have won the minor premiership:
Melbourne Storm (6 times)
Sydney Roosters (4 times)
Penrith Panthers (3 times)
The Bulldogs (once)And even in the year the Dogs won, the bloody Storm won the GF. In fact the above clubs also won 9 of the Grand Finals.
-
I imagine the Storm would have been up there for the duration of Bellamy, we all know about the Roosters and what they can provide off the field. Penrith are newly established here but perhaps the way their juniors are will continue to be there.
Broncos went through a patch like that though and wouldn't be surprised to see them back in the future
Im guessing the Sharks didn't win the minor premiers when they won the comp
It is hard to imagine though some of the other teams getting out of purgatory though -
Bellamy delivers like no other

My comments on Sticky are sarcasm after their win over the Panthers. I don't like all this sack the coach crap in either code if they don't win finals.
Why I support Sticky is that he introduced a bunch of new youngsters this year, with success. Strange and Weakes will be huge next year. Smithies Mariota Mooney and Hosking are very promising. Chevy Stewart and Xavier Savage will improve. So I feel they could be a top 4 team in a couple of years. Not too much difference between teams 5 to 14 really. Can all beat other. -
This oldie came up on the socials the other day
-
Kyle Feldt leaving the Cowboys.
Leaves as the top try scorer in the Club's history, including the most important one. I thought he was completely done 12 months ago but fair go, he's actually had a good season. One last pay day in Europe?
