The Norwegian guy who won the 5000 after missing out on the medals in his specialist 1500 ran the 5000 for the first time at an Olympic games! Amazing
Well. He is the reigning 5000m world champ. If not last 2 world champs. Not that amazing.
Where they followed exact same path as this one. If understood commentators correctly. He fluffed his 1500s but won 5000s in slowish tactical races.

Thanks for ruining the narrative for me mate...

The modern pentathlon is more impressive than I thought.
- The whole event takes less than 2 hours long
- Each athlete brings a horse but the horses are chosen at random. The rider and horse have 20 minutes to get familiarised
- Fencing is a knockout last man standing deal
- 200m swim
- Final event is a run and laser target shoot
-
Here is a list of events we are contesting on the final day.

I didn't realise it was this awesome. I take it it's over now?

29
Well, young enough for one more cycle

The breakdancers are obviously at the top of their game. But is it a sport? I would have maybe said performing arts. Already dumped for LA and I don’t think it will be back. Skateboarding has been made permanent (!) and boxing is temporarily out (for governance issues I think).
The added sports to 2028 are cricket, lacrosse, squash, flag football and softball/baseball.
Apparently the IOC woujd like some sports that appeal to the India, Pakistan, Bangladesh demographic so cricket and squash must have some chance of remaining for Brisbane.

200m swim is a bit lame.

The pentathlon is army biased. I suggest a naval pentathlon as well.
- Fencing. Your ship has been boarded and it's a cutlass fight.
- Platform Diving. Abandon ship.
- Swimming. obviously
- Boxing. You've landed on a tropical island and need to fight the local tribe in order to steal a canoe.
- Kayaking (if you win your Boxing bout)

71st overall for a country of that size.
Ouch.

Why? They're not bringing meaningful revenue with their peasant incomes.
