Which brings me to one of my ideas to bring a bit of life to the Olympics: instead of being the same five events, the Modern Pentathlon should consist of five Olympic events randomly drawn at the opening ceremony.
In Paris it could be tennis, judo, equestrian, BMX and diving. In LA it might be artistic swimming, archery, taekwondo, weight lifting and surfing.
Reward the ultimate all-rounder. Don't tell me you wouldn't watch some 100kg romanian martial arts guru try and ride a barrel in Tahiti...
i like the idea i saw floating around social media the last olympics
have a random Joe in every event so you get a comparable base line. So in your triathlon the winner comes in with a time of 1.53. And then we wait an hour and a bit for average Joe to finish.
If average Joe can even finish. Most wouldnt make it back up the river!

my mate (who did big triathlons) reckons chasing is easier than defending on the run. So there's that, too.
Due the psychological stimulus of having a clear target in front of the attacking runner?

@voodoo yeah was reading Yee had similar things to say about one of his team mates.
yeah the bloke that pulled the bike group along was cooked after that, lasted about 200m of the run, sent Yee on his way and effectively pulled up. Wonder where he finished?

Coverage of that Triathlon was shit.
Why were we getting saturation coverage of the Frogs with no coverage of the leader showing split to second changing.
Absolute rubbish commentary- went to get a beer out of fridge as commentators said it was basically race won and came back and he had been overtaken. No disappointment in being second best in the world at what you do so still managed to raise a glass to his efforts.

I'm calling suss on the Chinese guy who won the 100m free too. In a slow pool he smokes everyone and sets a new WR? yeah, absolutely nothing to see here.

Totally. It was his own WR too that he set in Feb. 0.4 of a second is a lot in the 100m too
He was crap the other night in the heats - presumably hadn’t had his bag of blood yet…

That would be as exciting as watching the teenage girls falling off their skateboards

As opposed to the current Modern Pentathlon, which is just edge of your seat stuff from start to finish.
