Cantebury squad announcement. As expected, an extremely solid squad with plenty of depth. Still got some guys named that are long in the tooth but not doubt valuable at this level.
Cant help but think what talent they are blocking from coming through though. Is Willie Heinz really necessary?! The guy turns 38 later this year….
Yeah I agree Hienz,Crotty need to move on so they can develop the next tier of players.
Nick Shearer could also cover First five has played a bit there for Christ college. -

@Chris I wouldn’t be surprised if Phil Burliegh gets a tap on the shoulder to fill a spot here and there if needed at 10. After all, they aren’t afraid to keep an older guy around haha
Would not surprise me,I hope not Phil is 38 now, still playing in Japan though.

@Canes4life Phil is finished in Japan.

Two Ponsonby boys, Tuipulotu and Peni with Southland for preseason v Otago. I might have to be a secret Stags supporter this NPC - Although I would prefer them to play in our Club Gallaher Shield Final this weekend!
-
Another Ponsonby boy, Sam Wye is with that team that plays in Black and White -
-
Nah just like a lot of other players, plays rugby in Dunedin, Southland has an academy in Dunedin for Southland players and he plays provincial down there. He's in their development squad and having a run this week
-
@NateHill74 is there any where else in NZ where a PU runs an academy in another province and uses their club system as a feeder to their npc team?. Seems ridiculous that Otago allows that
-
Anyone know if this game is being televised?
-
Mako team vs Manawatu preseason.
Dave Havili is on the bench - Will Jordan is not.
