AFL 2024

how good is a comp where nearly every fan can turn up on the weekend thinking they are a chance?
-
@mariner4life and not even THAT delusional, swans have had the most dominant start in recent memory...and we lost to Richmond
-
I went to the Lions v Crows yesterday. Far more tense than it should have been. Lions kicking as many behinds as goals keeps teams in it. The forward line is not working at all.
Crows were pretty good though. They kicked us to death, just finding mark after mark to move the ball. And they kicked straight.Elsewhere Sydney and Carlton both lost, and the ladder got even more congested.
-
Went to GWS vs Carlton, was a fun sort of game. GWS flicked the switch in the second and might have saved their season.
With Sydney losing to the Saints, you could tell me any of the top eight teams will win and I'd believe you.
Think this week might have ended the Gold Coast, Bulldogs and Hawthorn though.

Gold Coast,
Dimma gave them a pretty decent and deserved spray in the press conference

in conclusion...AFL as competitive comp....awesome....AFL tipping....sucks

Rankine will be 3+. A similar incident got someone 5 weeks.
-
Adam Simpson's future now very much in doubt.
Premierships only get you so far, you keep losing and eventually the axe comes.
-
No longer in doubt, goooorn.

Brisbane avoid the dead cat bounce of a shit team at home the week after their coach got sacked to somehow jump in to the top 4
love to see @Kiwiwomble tipping this week
Geelong beat Collingwood at the 'G, and suddenly the cats are back?
Hawthorn beat Freo
Sydney of course bounce back v North
The Bulldogs beat Carlton
Adelaide beat St Kilda who in peak Ross Lyon kick 5 goals
Basket case Dees beat fraud Essendon
Gold Coast were at home so they won
GWS beat the TigersAnd so Sydney are 3 wins clear. Carlton were locked in to 2nd, but they have fallen back to the pack, and now only lead the Cats on %. The Lions in to the 4 after a 10-game run of 8-1-1.
And then it' still a shitfight to 13th. No one is knocked out yet because the teams from 2nd to 13th keep beating each other. Great season. -
@mariner4life ive started picking smokies to try and catch up....so got 7/9

@mariner4life its one of our data scientists....we're not sure he hasn't built some sort of algorithm

A new concussion case against the AFL and so they hand out the two weakest suspensions you have ever seen as a "response" and suddenly the AFL is where rugby has been, questioning how far is too far before you actually attack the fundamentals of the game.
Both clubs immediately appealed the AFL's decisions, and i expect the defense of each is the same "what exactly was he supposed to do differently here?". As bad a couple of judiciary calls as i have seen.
-
Yeah I think this represents something of a tipping point.
The issue is more about the framework. Once the two tackles ticked the relevant boxes, they were locked in to a three match ban despite neither tackle warranting anything near that. If they each got a week I think people could make their peace with it, but three?
Meanwhile you can belt a bloke behind play and get one week maximum (unless you concuss them, which I presume now sends you straight to the Hague).
They need a whole rethink of how they grade these sorts of tackles because it's way out of wack at the moment.
-
i don't think either tackle is even a reportable incident.
