The ABs injured list and who might replace them

    OUT
Will Jordan: It was announced in February that the Crusaders fullback would be missing for about six months, so Jordan could return in time for the The Rugby Championship. That shoulder injury has delayed Jordan’s much-anticipated move into the All Blacks No 15 jersey. Hurricanes fullback Ruben Love is a strong candidate to replace Jordan, although the Chiefs’ Shaun Stevenson mirrors Jordan’s versatility in the back three.

Cam Roigard: The Hurricanes No 9 ruptured his left patella tendon in late March, ruling him out for up to six months. That was a big blow for the All Blacks, as Roigard was the early favourite to be the starting halfback against England. TJ Perenara’s strong return from his own injury issues means the All Blacks have plenty of experience to call upon, but the big winner will be Cortez Ratima, the uncapped Chiefs halfback who could even push for a start against England.

Samisoni Taukei’aho: The signs did not look good for the hooker he left the field with an Achilles injury against the Hurricanes last weekend. The All Blacks will be preparing for the worst, which would be Taukei’aho missing for the rest of the year. A third hooker will definitely be needed in July, and the All Blacks will have to make a decision between form and potential. Ricky Riccitelli has been outstanding for the Blues, but the Crusaders’ George Bell has clearly been earmarked for higher honours over the past two years and Robertson and Jason Ryan might be able to look past his lineout issues at the wobbly Crusaders this season.

Xavier Numia: The Hurricanes prop was banging down the door in Super Rugby Pacific after a series of strong scrummaging performances, and he cut a forlorn figure after injuring himself against the Rebels in the quarterfinal. The All Blacks aren’t short of loosehead options but Numia was clearly in the top three over the course of the campaign. If the All Blacks select six props, the Crusaders’ George Bower could get a recall.

    DOUBTFUL
Sam Cane: The 32-year-old announced in May that this would his last year in test rugby, and he missed a large chunk of the Japanese season due to a back injury. That might rule him out of the July tests, but Cane is one of the toughest players of the past 10 years and knows how to get ready for the highest level. But if he’s not available, Luke Jacobson is a like-for-like replacement.

Josh Lord: The lock was ruled out of the remainder of Super Rugby Pacific in early May, and he is so short of rugby that it would be hard to pick him even if he was technically injury free. It’s been a horror run for the talented lock and raised some real question marks about locking depth in New Zealand, at least until Fabian Holland and Jamie Hannah are eligible/ready. In the short term, the Crusaders’ Quentin Strange could be the man who gets the nod.

Patrick Tuipulotu: Yes, he has been named in the Blues’ starting lineup for the Super Rugby Pacific final, but there must be some doubt about how fit he is. Tuipulotu limped off in the first half of the quarterfinal against the Drua with a knee injury, and he was expected to miss between six and seven weeks. Either he’s a miraculous healer, or the Blues are rolling the dice a bit. Either way, the All Blacks coaches will be hloding their breath to see how he holds up in the final.

Highly likely he's stirring again. Blackadder is a shoe in under Razor.

Blackadder shouldn't even be considered until he proves he can play a couple of months of rugby without being injured. There's so many good loosies around.

If Cane is selected off of a back injury it's even more risky to include Blackadder

@Duluth My understanding is Cane is not available for the England and Fiji games, could be wrong, if that is true why would he get selected on Monday, I very much doubt he will be selected now

    Fixed the typo..

In the last two years he's managed to play 3 games in a row once.

Didn't you tell us a few weeks ago that Blackadder is off to Japan? If that's true then he's probably in the same basket as Akira and Harmon.

Loose-forward is going to be incredibly competitive - especially if they only pick five and I think that's quite likely.

I've really only got 8. Ardie and 7. Papali'i locked in.

I think Finau is highly likely.

Then you've got to pick two more from Blackadder, Jacobson, Sotutu, Lakai, Iose, Sititi, Lio-Willie and anyone else they might be looking at.

Once you pick one of those, you can probably draw a line through several of the others.

In which position has Ardie been playing in Japan?
Not sure if this is prescient, out of date or a bit of trolling

The new coaching group seems to have been impressively air tight.

Devlin's call that Scott Barrett will be captain seems to be about the only assertive call I've seen in the media - and it's a good bet if nothing else.

Doesn't seem to be much intel coming out even about which players are in this week's camp.

is ardie out of position? isn't he playing 7 in japan? (could be wrong), and obviously has that history at 7
