@KiwiMurph wouldn’t be feeling too bad if I were the Mavs after game 2.
They were right there despite Luka turning the ball over like crazy, the team missing free throws and Kyrie not really firing. Mavs are not a high turnover team so that was definitely out of character. Kyrie is top 10 in 4th quarter scoring in the league, but didn’t get up to much.
They played pretty good D and scrambled extremely well on the Celts shooters.
Some home cooking will be welcomed and I think they’ll lift with the extra bit of rest in between games.
Well that's one way to look at it.
Another way to look at it is
- Celtics elite defense forced those turnovers
- Kyrie has lost his last 12 games in a row vs Boston
- Celtics missed a lot of open 3s and still cruised to a win
- There's the same amount of rest between game 2 and game 3 as there was between game 1 and game 2
- Celtics haven't lost an away game all playoffs so the chances of at least splitting the 2 games in Dallas seem very high.
-
i watched in interesting video the other day that the Celtics seem to be playing a defense that allows Luka to get his, and no one else to get anything.

No Tingus Pingus no problem as the Celtics go to 3-0 on teh back of Tatum scoring early, and Brown scoring late.
They are just too deep, no one player needs to go big for them to win. -
Celtics cruise to the title
Amazing the 12 months for Jaylen Brown. A year ago he was the scapegoat for the Celtics playoff failures. 12 months later he is the Finals MVP
What an effort by Brad Stevens as the Celtics GM. Genius moves to bring in the likes of Porzingis and Holliday whilst moving on from Smart etc

Hats off to them, they were just far too good.
Their top 6 guys played great team ball in the playoffs. 16-3 is a phenomenal record. They play on both ends of the floor. No passengers. The egos were in check - guys like Horford and Holiday - bring that.
They have experienced the disappointment and were hungry but confident. Not a huge fan of the Celts since Reggie Lewis and Larry Legend were playing for them, but happy for Coach Joe, Jrue, Porzingis, and Derrick White.

Luka’s lack of conditioning did cost the Mavs. For a player that is so high usage and an offensive weapon, his defensive frailties because of poor conditioning was exposed.
I was watching clips of him in the bubble and he was so quick, on both ends, wasn’t getting beat so easily on the drive.
And I’m aware of the lifestyle choices of the man, but for a guy that has played close to a hundred games this season, he looked to get in worst condition.
Yes the size and all that helped parts of his offensive game, but what was clear was when they upped the pace the Mavs looked dangerous.
That didn’t stop the Celts attacking him on the defensive end.

All true. He should drop 5kgs and he’d still be able to bully people on O but would be more productive as games wear on.
Jeez his team let him down though, and I thought Kidd was terrible all series. The Kleber minutes were a disgrace, he should. Ever have been brought back into the rotation after Lively and Gafford did so well in his absence

Goddam online NBA fandom is populated exclusively with haters. Online discourse is so completely fucked. Absolutely no credit can be given to anyone, or even worse, just make a shit hot take that sounds like a compliment but isn't really.
The game yesterday hadn't even finished and people were rushing to apply the * to the Championship. The simple fact is the Celtics finished 7 wins in front of anyone else for the regular season. And it would have been more if they didn't take the last fortnight off. They were the best team all year, and cruised the playoffs. The front office created an insanely deep team that didn't rely on any one or even two players going big to be able to win. The Mavs threw numbers at Tatum so he just dished off the ball to someone else, and Brown feasted. Defensively they are really really fucking good, and thus the Mavs didn't score anywhere near enough to win (except when the Cs took game 4 off so they could win at home).
The West was very close, but hugely match-up driven. Who knows how the T-Wolves or the Nuggets would have gone in the finals, but they couldn't win at the right time.
Seriously fuck most NBA fans, fuckers don't know what they want. They hate super teams, they hate teams winning without a super star. They just hate. The best team won, and showed that Basketball is still a team sport.

Unfortunately this is the result of the First Take debate show era where there has to be a narrative regardless of what happens.

The Lakers hire JJ Reddick as head coach. No experience, but he strikes me as having a smart basketball mind. LA will hope he will be another player-broadcaster morphing into an excellent HC a-la Steve Kerr. Apparently he has a good relationship with LBJ which matters. But he will need a lot of help because that roster is poo

Giddy for Caruso is a good trade for both. Giddy is young with huge upside potential and better fit with the Bulls team.
Caruso is a veteran presence with huge defence. -
Viva la NBA…
3 of the top 6 picks are from France. and 6 of the top 12 picks are non-American.
I think the pick of the lottery went to the Spurs - Stephon Castle. Castle is a defensive minded swingman with huge upside. Still young having been a freshman on the National Champs, but I think he will be a great fit and team mate for Wemby and Vassell.
Funniest Bball video I saw today, wasn’t at the draft, was this

Spurs sign Chris Paul
Which I HATED at first glance. But it's a cheap one year deal and now I like it. He's gonna average 20 assists just feeding Wemby.

Oh and Paul George to the Sixers.makes the East a bit more interesting too

It’s an excellent fit for PG I reckon. Can’t stand Embiid, but Maxey is a gun and they’ve been able to resign Oubre.
Some of these contracts are just ridiculous though.
