NRL 2024

and State of Origin kicks off tonight
One team looks like it has been picked to bash its opposition into submission, other the looks like it has been picked to evade big clumbsy forwards.
Weather doesn't look great with rain predicted is afternoon (none so far), so might be slippery
I would suggest a tight low scoring game either way but brutal as always
Thinking NSW might still pip QLD even with the late fullback change, but you never can write off QLD!

Hasn’t rained watch out for QLD! Hoping Hynes doesn’t bottle it as I’m expecting
-
Incoming Wallabies star Joseph Sua'ali'i sent off in Origin 1 after 7mins after knocking out Reece Walsh with a shocking shoulder to the head.
Classic league commentators saying 'it might be a card' and then being shocked when he gets sent off. That's why I don't watch league much, bunch of morons don't protect their athletes. That was a fking shocking tackle.
-
Yeah, still direct to head with force, I’m calling Qld very early as a result
Madge not moving Burton to bench a mistake
-
@bayimports this could be a blood bath for NSW at home. 20-6, only 24mins gone.
-
Could have been uglier if Dearden stopped dropping in short to Su'a and just went straight to Cobbo/Hammer a couple of times.

I had half an eye on the game at work so I was watching it with a bunch of Qlders. I was surprised at how many were pissed that the game was ruined by the send off. Surprised in that those who support the team that benefits from a sending off/sin bin are normally quite happy with the decision. Neutrals were grumpy too, including me.
With the plethora of yellow cards and red cards in Union I reckon I am feeling a card fatigue. I am sick of the feeling of frustration every time a team is down a player. I know this will probably never happen because the notion of a team having to be a player down is so ingrained in our psyches, but if we are going to send off/bin players regularly in the name of player safety, perhaps we should follow the lead of basketball and have players 'ejected' but teams allow teams to remain at full strength on the field. I know we made a step in that direction with the '20 minute red' or what ever it is, but I don't think it goes far enough.

Only mitigation for me was that Walsh was falling down
If sualii got lower he would have broken the guy
Holy shit, NTA is making a comment on loigue !!!!
I've got an interest in sualii as he's at the Tahs next year.
And I refrained from making any derisive remarks about the game in general.
So that's a win
