@canefan only one from the states. Perez is at least decent, not like he's constantly coming last and fucking up.

He's driving for the champs, so presumably he's driving a very similar car to Max. So he's underachieving

How does Sargeant not get the ol' heave ho? Man he's cake.

Sponsors. Doesn't help that Williams are now owned by Americans, but he's a Formula 3 driver at best.

Love it. Even in practice - Sargeant goes to overtake someone on the straight and they eventually just let him past....he's so excited about actually overtaking someone, he forgets you've gotta do all the other stuff and completely overshoots the upcoming corner under no pressure.

Apparently he's not a pay driver. Well Williams management and contracting are fucking morons then

Not sure Norris' lap being reinstated sits comfortably with me. If you're going to have the rules change depending on the track/conditions then surely you should have that clearly set out rather than an arbitrary decision in the moment?

Yeah, I know what you mean.

If it was any other team I suspect I'd be spitting tacks. But as it's Norris and McLaren, I'm ok with it as it is common sense.

Max throwing out laps 1.5 seconds faster than anyone else. F1 might die when there's finally a race where he laps 2nd place.

Can anyone tell me why the order of the cars in the pit is the way it is? Seems rather random.

Damon Hill did it in the 90s, there were a few more crashes and breakdowns in those days

I enjoyed the sprint race, though it was inevitable Max was going to overtake Hamilton at some point.

I was very excited when I found that I could watch F1 on my already paid for Sky sub. But only watched 2 races, processional stuff now. Crashes and breakdowns are much rarer, and the pit stops are sull as compared to when they used to refuel. Might as well wrap the season up now, save some environmental harm haha

It’s brilliant apart from Verstappen. Loads of actual races going on.

I do wonder if/when RB sponsors will get arsey tho as he gets less coverage than woujd be expected of the leader. The racing is simply elsewhere.

Yeah, can't remember which race, but basically didn't see Max from about lap 3, until the very end of the final lap. I notice this race they actually made a thing of showing him on the final lap.

I’ve been watching the races. There’s not much worth commenting on. The best storylines are about next year

Overtaking does still seem to be quite difficult, although One thing there is a clear reduction in though is retirements / crashes. I obviously don't want anybody to get hurt, but they do add an extra element to it. Nothing like seeing a car blow up with smoke everywhere leaving a trail of oil all over the track to mix things up a bit.

I think some of the malaise is due to the size of the cars. They had the full line up at Monaco and modern F1 seem to have almost twice the footprint of even 10-15 years ago. That has to make overtaking more difficult.

Ignoring the predictable winner out front, I've enjoyed the tussle for the third podium position and those trying to get that solitary point for coming 10th. But that's been F1 for as long as I've been watching.

As to the size, this is a good indication of the problem; so much easier to block:
