Awesome win, looked like they really wanted it. Great passion and just tenacious.

I quite like this French side, but they can get stuffed with their moaning in this final. You ran through our ruck and kicked good attacking ball away and the useless ref got conned.

Great to see our young boys step up and keep their defensive mindset

Great stuff from both teams. Take a bow.

Now go and repeat those results in Paris in July in the Olympics in front of 80,000 of the locals.

Also, while Curry, Ware, Collier and Webber performed, NZ did not miss Sam Dickson at all.

Those guys were all good. Contrary to some of the complaining about the older guys from people here, they can still bring it when they want to (agreed on Sam, might be past it). Which would bring into question the motivating techniques being used to get them going more often. Coaching...

They were certainly up to win the last event at So Kon Po. A one off at the Olympics should get them firing and the format for the HSBC series is different this year as well. Winning a one off in Spain could see us with another series title too. That is the problem with the format change, you really only need to be in the top eight.

Also I didn't even realise, the team played so well - no Carter? At least on the last day.

@Bones Carter was amongst the long list of injured players I posted above. Ormond was the extra player in HK not used.

@Bovidae arguably our best player, so you wouldn't have picked us to go far at all with both him and Rokolisoa missing.

It highlights our inconsistency, and the parity of the teams. Argentina capitulated after losing Moneta to injury.

Fineangonofo is brilliant, seemingly came from nowhere too. Guy has such good vision and skill, combined with his footwork and brute force. Now there's someone I was surprised to see is only 21. Awesome

I'd seen him play at 1st XV/age-group level, but that 2020 NZ Schools team never played a game due to covid. I'm not surprised he has a background in RL. Tito-Harris is another who played both codes.

Definitely the pool of death for the men after Argentina's struggles in HK.

The BF7s beat Spain 38-7 in their opening match. It was 7-7 early before NZ started to dominate possession.

That was fucking pathetic defence after jamming them back into their 22.

God I hate it when refs give a penalty for holding on, when the player didn't and it was immediately turned over, just the stealer got cleaned out.
