Crusaders v Chiefs

@antipodean Well whatever happened, it worked for them haha.
Similar to the ABs in SA in the 2nd test in 2022?

I have wondered that given the difference in performance from one week to the next.

Good win
Blackadder,Barrett,,McAlister,Williams,Drummond,Havilli,Burke all back after the bye
Taylor back a couple of weeks latter we just might make the playoffs.Bolded names I agree with (although Blackadder on reputation), those with a line though not so much. Which is a polite way of saying they add nothing.
Yeah Drummond does he gets Heinz of the Bench Burke is a lot better than The first five we have now, also I forgot lilo-Willie is back next game.
-
@Canes4life how did the game go. I was watching Bunnies vs Dogs.

@Chris fair point. I'd keep starting Hotham based on his performance tonight.
Yep totally agree
-
@chchfanatic Good game that, if the Dogs had any sort of attack, they would have smoked them.

@Chris Hohepa has been alright in fairness to him. Sure, only a stop gap, but he's been steady which is what they need right now.
Yeah he has Burke will bring a bit more to the attack.
Hohepa has done a good job though been steady as you say. -
Decent game of footy that.
Wanted result the other way, but not disappointed that Sith, as a NZ team, keep themselves in it.
Rugby is so good at the moment.

Yeah, not well served there

Johnny on the money.
Perhaps that's why he's drifting in off his wing

This is the first game Hotham has actually looked serviceable.
It's only the chiefs.

Chiefs largely their own worst enemies last night.
There were definitely a few questionable refereeing decisions but that's the way of the game nowadays.
There was one unforgivable decision from Gardner though, awarding the Crusaders a penalty at half way for the Ah Kuoi late tackle. Unless the law has changed, that's only ever been possible if the folk play has been committed after a try has been scored - which it clearly hadn't. Obviously it ultimately didn't have a big impact with the Crusaders missing touch, but that's an elementary level error from Gardner and stuff like that does nothing for the reputation of referees.
Crusaders were always going to come right sooner rather than later. You're always going to have an exponentially better shot at winning if you can retain even 75% of your own lineout ball, which they managed last night. Would not want to be playing them in the quarter-finals - suspect losing this game might actually go in the Chiefs' favour at the end of the season (assuming they're still able to finish near the top of the table, which they should).
