Hannah really reminds me of a young Whitelock. And not just because he's a 21yo white guy playing at lock.

Big engine and just does the little stuff right. He was very good tonight.

@Yeetyaah they've been limp in a big chunk of matches this year, definitely not the same side as last year.

@Yeetyaah then again the comp isn't won in the first couple months so they've got plenty of time to sort out their game. Just don't turn it on in a couple weeks. 😃

I've been crucified a bit for defending the Crusaders this year, but they've proven that they're still tough at home and have a much easier draw in the 2nd half of the season with a bit more cattle to come back.

Not saying they're gonna go on and win the thing, but they're still a threat to everyone.

Probably the best I've ever seen Johnny McNicholl play at this level.

    Was Lord any good?
    How did Hannah go?
(I was going to blame the loss on Vaa'i, but then saw he wasn't playing.)

Was hoping for a better performance from Tupea

I never quite understood the level of hype surrounding him, last season the Chiefs looked midfield looked better with Poihipi or/and Rona paired with ALB.

I don't understand why Poihipi isn't getting time on the park.

It's interesting because he would easily start for this Crusaders side yet McMillan decided he's surplus to requirements, you've also got Ollie Norris, Gideon Wrampling, Wallace Sititi - all currently playing for the development side.

@Chris lol you’ll easily make the playoffs. Wouldn’t be surprised if you make it to 6th or 7th

Well the Saders were better than I thought, but the result was exactly as I expected. The Chiefs gave up when they rested Dmac and Finau.

Penney nailing his balls to the wall to go 5 zip and teach the tags a lesson. Coaching genius.

Reckon the saders have a decent chance of defeating the bye now.

@Bones He's done it tough and not had things go his way, but that performance felt like he still has the dressing room, despite him not being the most well liked person down here in the garden city.

@gt12 Was thinking maybe McMillan expects to play them at playoff time and doesn't want to give too much away against them?

    Or am I reaching haha.

For me, resting Finau was more detrimental to this game. Dmac sparks the attack for sure but Jacomb looked good, his midfield did fuck all outside him to help out. Finau is a big fluffybunny who throws himself around on attack and D and we missed the physicality as the Saders brought it tonight. I'm hōha but fuck they didn't deserve it so it is what it is.

Tupaea is really one dimensional. He runs hard but when he has the pill, you know he will keep it. Rona or Poihipi bring more IMO.

Bolded names I agree with (although Blackadder on reputation), those with a line though not so much. Which is a polite way of saying they add nothing.

The comments by Shrek afterwards when interviewed by Kirsty suggested to me that the players just decided to have a go.

He certainly isn't bringing the form he had prior to his knee injury. But I think we were all enamoured at the time with a player wearing 12 who could run hard and bend the line.

Hard to blame him when the one time he decides to pop a pass out the back, fucking Jonny McNicholl scores a try.

@antipodean Well whatever happened, it worked for them haha.

Similar to the ABs in SA in the 2nd test in 2022?
