Hurricanes 2024

@Nepia Godfrey plays for Hawke's Bay, it's your responsibility to help develop him instead of focusing on a first five that no one is interested in.
I don't know why Godfrey's development has anything to do with Morgan's history, the Canes now have a completely new coach.

We are developing him - to suit what's best for us. We have no responsibility to develop players for a franchise that pays us lip service at best. Winning the shield, going deep in the NPC, was what we needed to prioritise, and we did that utilising the best mix of players to suit us.
The Canes are an ongoing entity, old coach isn't mitigation of anything. If you want Godfrey to be your 10 then your coach can play him there.
-
@Nepia Godfrey has clearly stated he wants to be a 10 so if Hawke's Bay don't play him there he's welcome to join the good guys in Welly. I can't see why you wouldn't either he's one of the best talents you have.

If he wants to do that then he can - can Wellington afford to pay any new players with their ongoing financial problems?
He's not the full package yet so that was why we didn't play him at 10, if he was the full package the Canes would just play him there then wouldn't they?
-
@Nepia lol how's he meant to be the full package at Super if you don't give him mins in his favoured position at a lower level like the NPC?
NPC is pretty much a development comp these days so it's up to HB to manage him and give him time to develop in a position without having the spot light on him that Super Rugby brings. Despite me wanting to see Godfrey get mins off the bench at 10 for the Canes, he's not yet ready to run a team at that level, he's too inexperienced. He needs to learn and grow his game at NPC which goes right back to my original point about giving him an opportunity.
Just look at how Kemara and Hotham haven't been up to it for the Crusaders this year, they also need to go and hone their craft at the NPC to get more experience.
At the end of the day Godfrey needs more time at 10 for the Hawkes Bay, period.

Best you do a whip around of your Welly mates so that your financially incompetent province-franchise can afford to poach him off us.

@Nepia this is the sort of response someone gives when they've clearly lost an argument.
Who knows Godfrey might not stay at the Hawke's Bay given their rotten reputation of late, better yet he may come to Wellington voluntarily being a Petone boy. Wouldn't blame him either, Welly's a better city, we've got better coffee and we play more attractive rugby. The list goes on.
It's also funny that despite your distaste for the Hurricanes, you always end up commenting on this thread. Deep down I reckon you're still a fan.

There's no lost argument, we have no obligation to develop players for the Canes as much as you want to create one.
I comment on Crusaders/Oz/England threads as well and dislike them as much as your franchise.
-
@Nepia technically you don’t but not starting your best 10 would be down right stupid with the cattle you have. Godfrey is already better than who you have at the Magpies so you may aswell start him and develop him at least for the betterment of NZ Rugby, or do you hate them aswell?

No he's not, our best 10 guided us to a Shield win and a whisker from winning the NPC. Your favouritism of Godfrey doesn't change that fact even if his ceiling is higher and he may be our best sometime in the future.

@Nepia that’s the whole point. Give him a shot and he’ll be better.
The Canes can give him a shot and see if he's better if they want.
-
@Canes4life said in Hurricanes 2024:
@Nepia he’s already better, he’s got a Super contract not an MLR contract.
Morgan's got one and even you've finally admitted he's shit after fluffing him in his early days.
-
@Nepia I never fluffed Morgan as being the next big thing, I think you’re getting confused with Love and now look at him. You guys couldn’t stop harping on about McClutchie and now look where he is. Moana Pasifika don’t even want the poor bloke.
Anyway, I’ll just let you watch as Godfrey finally helps the Magpies reach their potential.

@Canes4life said in Hurricanes 2024:
@Nepia lol this is going around in circles. I find it bizarre you would rather give a MLR player keys to the team over a Super player.
Godfrey has played a few games of Super Rugby, he's not a nailed on starter, McClutchie has led the Bay to success over a number of years and has way more experience as an on on field general than an untested young 10.
It would stop going round in circles if you just stopped telling us who we should and shouldn't select because it suits your piece of shit franchise.
-
@Nepia such a piece of shit franchise aye (as they happily look down on your franchise from top of the log).
Haha so much success with all those titles you’ve won. Give me a break… or don’t because your lot have broken enough things recently.

They're one spot above my shit franchise, maybe don't celebrate yet.
Knocking out Wellington, and winning (and breaking) the shield, and not spending over our means like other unions is success enough me.
-
@Nepia the Shield moves around all the time. True success is winning titles and finishing the job when it matters.
Atleast our lads aren’t the most hated province in NZ.
Also, who calls their own franchise shit. Crack up.
The Canes and Lions will be fine, they are financially poor atm because they’ve just invested in the best sports training facility in NZ which is already bearing fruit not only for the Canes atm but the Phoenix and other teams (Lions championship in 2022) that train there.

I wasn't calling them shit I was just parroting your words back to you but if you think you've scored an internet win for that then you do you.
