<p>I don't think people care that much about the medal tally, by and large. What is concerning is when athletes perform well below their best, and that's what has happened in swimming, hockey and cycling.</p>

<p>Our athletics tilt has actually been quite good, despite only winning a few walking medals we've had heaps of PBs, unexpected finalists etc.</p> -
<p>So 12 started the pole vault. Only 7 have got past 4.60m so far, including our own McCartney.</p>

<p>Even if she doesn't make it further, she has done bloody well considering she is just a newbie. One for the future, definitely. And seems to have a good temperament for the top level.</p> -

<p>I reckon if she gets 4.80 she will medal (bronze). Getting all her jumps so far on the first attempt is very handy.</p>

Yeah, you missed nothing. We have a dedicated channel on the vault final. They just stood around until the ceremony / anthem was over. -

Can't believe how engrossed Im getting by this women's pole vault. Some exciting shit. <br><br>
It's funny how you can seriously get into sports you'd never otherwise watch. I remember getting seriously into fencing a few Olympics back. -
