Right, after another week and a bit it's cleared, so thanks to all the advice. Aroma is terrific - really citrus-sy and fresh. Taste is great and I think it will improve over the next few weeks. Quite a dry brew.
I think I might have this "brew in a bin and store and condition in 5L kegs" cracked. Onward...

Next of the list is this Hazy IPA kit from Muntons - a big UK company who specialise in grain and malt products and brew beers to order or recipe for both big names and craft companies.) The reviews from the all grain folks rate them highly and up there with the all grain stuff. A 35 pint kit comes in at about £30.

Good to see this thread come alive again.
After a big night of darts, bbq and loud music with a few mates in the garage ( Luke Littler inspired us ) my home brew took an absolute pounding. Just brewed the Mango one ( above ) and can confirm it smells just like Mango just juice so far. Definitely looking forward to trying it !

Love them. Various stages of really good on the whole……lots of variety.
The stouts I’ve done were actually from Black Rock, I haven’t done a MJ one yet.
( pro tip. Be sure to soak the bags of kit and brewing sugar in boiling water to make it easier to pour )

The first Golden Ale that came with the brewing kit was bog standard, really ordinary. The polite almost condescending smiles we got from those who tried them said it all……
The first Pink Grapefruit IPA was outstanding. Second time we brewed it not quite as good. We’ll go third time lucky on this cos I want to get it right, beautiful beer.
Hazy IPA outstanding. ( great feedback from other half’s family over Xmas )
Witbier Outstanding. ( it honestly tasted like something from a Belgiun bar, just beautiful )
Red IPA outstanding. ( nailed this one )
Pilsner Good.
Sabro Single Hop Good. ( double hopped this, made it a bit bitter )
American APA Good. ( we really built this one up, I mean, it’s good but not as brilliant as we hoped )
I think the best beer I’ve done would be the Black Rock Stout…..
Black Rock - CS Oatmeal Stout 1.7kg
Black Rock Oatmeal Stout has rich caramel and roasted characters from the selection of specialty malts, balanced with a moderate hop bitterness, and a smooth, silky texture from the malted oats. Combine 2 cans for asurpurb, full bodied stout. Ingredients Malts Caramalt, Lager, Roasted, Chocolate,...
…..but a lot of that would be down to the grated chocolate, coffee and rum that we added. Got some aging right now to crack open around April/May when it starts to cool down.

I put mine in the boiler cupboard overnight. I've also been told some people freeze them and peel the bags off, but I'm sceptical of any damage ice crystals might do.

One for the experienced brewers
Do you put your hops in the wort directly or do you use a bag of some kind? Thinking of using a bag to stop bits floating around and make kegging easier

I figure yuo'll get so much yeast and trub anyway, hop junk doesn't matter.
Hasn't affected my yeast harvesting for future brews.
If you use bag, use a big one - but ask yourself why (existential question I know)

yep, however you do it you need a way to get the good beer off the trub.
I either siphon to a bottling bucket or keg from a Fermzilla, or use the SS Brewtech Brewbucket that has a really nice offtake you can twist to maximise beer return.

Speaking of which, got hands on some fresh hops and brewed a nectaron fresh hopped hazy last week with my mate. It's tasting and smelling brilliant already, even without the 500g of dried nectaron we're dry hopping with
Round two riwaka arrives tomorrow ... an IPA I expect

Munton's Flagship Hazy IPA.
Can report it's as good as the critics say it it. Outstanding drop and better than St Ives Brewery Slipway IPA.

Just got my next four brews paying particular attention to the upcoming change in seasons.
Spiced Belgian Dubbel, Bavarian Wheat ( ok probably more of a Summer drop but fuck it ), Kveik IPA and Miners Stout.
@Victor-Meldrew they had some Muntons in stock funnily enough, will try some next time I go which will be a couple of months. Interested in your thoughts…..anything different than other kits ?
Life got in the way a bit and my Riwaka Pale ale spent a month in the fermenter but still tasted fine. Lovely solid beer.

Have only tried this one, TBH. Have an IPA from their Hand Crafted range (one below the Hazy IPA) on the go so will report back
