Preseason - Blues v Chiefs

@Dan54 LOL, Yeah I lasted nearly 5 mins before watching the rest on mute.
The other thing that annoyed me during that half was that after a slow start the Blues were just warming to the pace and physicality of the game when they swapped out half the team at 20 mins and they got slow and messy again, giving up a couple of tries, while the Chiefs kept mostly the same xv on the field so looked more cohesive. Then the second 20 team just grew into the game again and it was half time already. -
@Daffy-Jaffy the breakdown work was messy after those changes

The main concern for the Blues might be a Locking crisis. The two listed second half locks Beehre and McWhannel were both on within 20 mins in the first half for Thompson and Annandale and then McWhannel quickly went off and has not returned. Hence the second half Locks have been Beehre and Suafoa who may be the last Locks standing right now?
Edit: I was wrong about McWhannel, he started the second half and left at about 55 mins. -
Both coaches reported a relatively clean bill of health, with the Chiefs unscathed and the Blues picking up only a couple of head knocks to forwards James Thompson and Ed Annandale.

Same. Life is too short to listen to middle aged men try to act like teenagers.
I think McOnie is 50. So he's older than many of the fathers of the teenagers they want to attract
A fat 50 year old who jokes never land, making repetitive references to a 41 year old movie will solve the yoof issue for NZR. Or how about the joke about that up and coming band Soul Asylum?
Also if you are going to have two commentators obnoxiously cheer for one team over the other (because they are super chiefs fans!) they should at least know the names of half the Chiefs players on the field
Then there was cutting away from the ball in play to show the faces of the 'talent'
The coverage was a disaster. I hope this won't be the standard of the games broadcast on NZR.

I found the quips about the ginga players needing sunscreen quite offensive on a personal level too.

I guess NZR is trying to be "different" but what I will generously call the "jocular" commentary combined with the sub standard production made the entire thing look like an amateur shambles.
"Cringe" is what I think the hip young youth of today call it...
