Surely there is a massive liability issue when a competition is basically offering an incentive to do things that are bad for you i.e. won't they be sued into oblivion 10 years down the line?
Hasn't stopped anyone to date.... Isn't this just bringing something that's been going on for ages, out into the open?

what does it say if they dont break records?
They either didn't have superior base physiology, or their drugs weren't good enough

There is that. I am sure many are

Nope. They'll have the liability issues sorted. Would be like bodybuilders suing the organisers of Mr Olympia or any other bodybuliding comp for that matter.

In some sports for sure. Others you will definitely see some major differences.

Yeah. Even if they are using the same drugs the mitigation techniques will be completely different.
For example a cycle could be taken at the optimal time for performance, not the optimal time to beat a test. The dosage could be higher. There is no need for masking agents which could have a negative effect on performance.
If the games are a success the differences will speed up at subsequent events. There will be innovation purely on the performance side.. currently much of the innovation is on the beating a test side. More legitimate companies could become involved too

It's why I've stopped watching a lot of track and field. You have to assume all the top competitors are juiced, and that they're ahead of the testing. If Armstrong could cheat the way he did, for as long as he did, being the most tested person on the planet; the way that Russia systematically cheated the drugs testing - it all adds up to being naive if you think people are racing clean.
Good time to leave this here - 7 years old, but still really relevant. And I loved Usain Bolt by the way, but I don't kid myself that he was clean.

WWE turned to shit once all the steroid accusations came to light in the 1990s…..
Could all be coincidence though.
Such an interesting one, it’s not like such and such can take roids, sit back and get jacked. There is still a truckload of work that needs to go in and genetics are a huge factor too.
Arnie as one example had all three.
But as @NTA alludes to it’s a case of glory at the expense of a long life in most cases
