whole game changed on 3 plays. 4th down attempt dropped by the Lions. Interception not only dropped by the Lions, it pops in the niners receivers' hands for a huge gain. After the KO first play fumble.
-
what did the Detroit receivers put on their hands at half time? they can't catch anything.
Weird game. deserved win for the Niners on the back of some great 2nd half play

and that was the game unfortunately. Skill errors cost the Lions - but they fought bloody hard. Give those 49ers any momentum and they'll roll.
interestingly, lots of sacks missed- the penalties are making defensive players gunshy

These 49ers give me a heart attack every week
Game of two halves
Dan Campbell choked the second half - overly aggressive to the point of stupidity - no need to go for those 4th downs.
49ers show for the second week they have the ability to come back.
Another shot at the Chiefs - bring it!

yes, they are our division "rivals" (and i use that term very very loosely) and thus i am supposed to hate them
Spare a thought for the Raiders
A Super Bowl in their home stadium and it features their division rivals up against their former cross town rivals.
Ouch.

I don't think the coaching was bad, it was the skill errors. The first 4th down play was fine - Reynolds just dropped it. Then he drops another one, then Gibbs fumbles. The pressure from the away crowd, the heat of the big stage and they just didn't have it.
If you're going to burn the coach, better criticism is the run on 3rd and goal in the last minute which burned their timeout.
But ultimately the 9ers were the better team. Purdy huge in the clutch, especially with his legs. And the defence stepped up when it mattered.

The 9ers have to try and work out how to play D like they did in the 3rd quarter vs the Lions, for the whole game against KC or we are going to get gashed. Nice to see Purdy do what he had to do to get the W

Coach played it the way he always played it. He's won more than he's lost doing it this season, but it didn't quite work out this time. Crucial errors and a couple of freak plays helped the 9ers get going and they did just enough to get another ugly W

I guess this is my point. By going for it on 4th down you are putting extra pressure on when it was not necessary. Given the extra pressure I don’t think it was smart to go for it when they already had control of the game.
The risk is too big for the reward in those circumstances in the game imo. It's like being in the lead in rugby and turning down 3s to go for tries.

Flowers basically took it on himself to take the Ravens out of the game.
Which would normally be brilliant, apart from the fact that he plays for the Ravens.
I think it will take him some time to get over this.
Two crucial brainfarts, a lesser player would get traded for shit like that
