@booboo yeah looks to be those that were in the last AB squad. Maybe the others have been spoken to individually and given their own "plan"?
Some will be still on leave, they come back in dribs and drabs. The change will be pushed by what Razor and Co see during SR I guess
-
@booboo yeah, could be only part of the squad to maintain some secrecy around possible new caps for the upcoming season
OR
Razor has invited current ABs only and he's giving them either the ๐ or the ๐ as he walks past them on the training field.Example:
Razor: "I'm sorry, Finlay. Thank you for your service."Finlay: "But coach..."
Razor: "Don't make this harder than it already is."

It makes perfect sense to start with a basis of a squad formed from the guys that were there.
All would have reasonable expectations.
Just trying to work out if anyone from last year missed out. Lord and Finau the only two I could think of.
And whilst I agree re Christie Razor has to find 2x better 9s. They're probably there but let Super take it's course.

He tried to talk around it but it's clear that he wants a relaxation of the NZ based players rule. I wonder if NZR will put out a clarification statement like they did last time
He'll be told to wind his fucking neck in, privately, I would imagine. he certainly wouldn't be saying that as saders coach. My opinion of him has just dropped, a lot.

Now that I've got the top job:
-
shut up and coach surf jesus (why are we even hearing from you at the moment?)
it's a damning indictment of NZ's talent development pathways if there is precisely one guy that the coach thinks can play the position, and he isn't even in the country, and wasn't that great anyway.
(yes i've read a lot in to Duluth's post without even watching the press conference)

@Duluth It was clear when Richie's name kept popping up and there was no mention at all of any incumbents filling in his position, other than Beaudy.
Huh? It was the journos that kept bringing up Richie. Dmac was mentioned and it was also mentioned that others players have an opportunity in Super Rugby.

The cheek of the man suggesting NZR keeps an open mind about something. We dug ourselves quite a hole with insular thinking, surely thinking and talking about alternatives is a good thing? It doesnโt mean we have to go down that path.

@Crazy-Horse I'd be ok if they put out a random figure, like 75 caps or something that gave you leeway, but I guess the issue is how do you measure thier form against local players?
I think if the gates were opened, NZ rugby would be on a steep decline and we'd end up like the Island sides battling with teams to release players and players opting not to go anyway due to the impact on thier earnings.

They're probably the sort of things he is suggesting NZR considers. Even if he was completely evil and wanted the gates opened I can't see that happening.
