They have sponsored sport in NZ too, e.g., the domestic football championship.

Obviously this has benefits in both the financial and playing IP areas, but it also comes down to the fact that our players just don't get enough minutes every year. If you're not a Test player, you run around a dozen times for SR, then what? Go play shitty club?

These measures, the centralisation, and some streamlining elsewhere could really help

what the hell is "ISPS Handa"?

International Sports Promotion Society is a Japanese non-profit organization known for its sponsorship of golf tournaments worldwide, including the PGA Seniors Championship and LPGA Women's Australian Open. ISPS Handa is a member of the Tokyo Sports Association, a public interest incorporated foundation.

hadnt heard of them before, interesting and positive to have japanese investment in aussie rugby maybe

Yes I agree any money from Japan is healthy.

wonder if we'll see RA pushing for more involvement from Japan in SH rugby

I hope so SR needs it I think.

Not if they want a Sunwolves 2.0

The Japanes style of technical precision and fitness is more what rugby should be - open, running, but without sacrificing any of the core stuff like lineout and scrum

States move to oust Rugby Australia chair McLennan after World Cup disaster

Embattled Rugby Australia chairman Hamish McLennan has rejected a call from a group of member unions for him to stand down.

The chairmen of the Queensland Rugby Union, ACT Rugby, Rugby WA and South Australia Rugby confronted McLennan on Friday, following a secret phone hook-up on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the RA chairman’s leadership following a disastrous year in rugby. QRU chairman Brett Clark phoned McLennan on Friday afternoon to inform him of their collective stance

@KiwiMurph Good. That clown should be held to account, as leaders are supposed to.

Based on his time at RA, I'd say he's a gormless idiot who has failed up spectacularly. A real leader would've committed seppuku based on these results.

I hate to be an I told you so, but f*** me I have not trusted him from time he came on scenen, got crucified on another forum for saying as much. I still believe from the time he took over at RA he has done damage to the game . H
e came in talking how tough he was and was putting nZR in their place, a few fan boys swallowed it etc, but he never actually did anything, just talked!
Pack your bags Hamish and get someone like a John Eales type man who actually know how to work as part of a team. Not saying has to be Eales but that type of man!

Yep, think I’ve said here before that he spoke at a rugby lunch I went just after taking on the role. One of those 90% bloke, boozy as hell, perfect audience for a few tales from ex-players etc

He gets up and speaks about all the shit he’s going to do, how he’s not going to let the NZ admin roll over them anymore, blah blah - and even in that room full of drunken Aussie blokes you could see they didn’t trust or like him. Just a petulant, arrogant twat.

And Victoria but they were not asked by the other 6 as NSW and Victoria are in discussions with RA about centralisation so they were left out.
