CWC - NZ v Sri Lanka

Spoke too soon. Poor shot and timing by Ravindra.
We’ve lost two quick ones.
-
Sheesh that was terrible.
Chapman and Mitchell in a bad mix up and Chapman is run out.It was Chapman’s call and Mitchell sent him back.
Chapman not a happy camper.
-
@ACT-Crusader it went behind square isn't that Mitchell's call?

That’s the non-strikers call, so Chapman.
Now Mitchell goes to a brilliant catch.

Ahh yes you are right. Just watched another replay.

We are losing too many wickets for a simple chase and target.

It's worth it to try and improve net run rate by getting the target as quickly as possible.

I agree on trying to score quickly, but I thought three of our wickets were down to poor decisions. Don’t mind Mitchell’s he was as least going for it.

New Zealand all but by the most improbable of mathematical possibilities locked in their place in the World Cup semi-final with a dominant five-wicket win - with 160 balls left - against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru. The result means they move to ten points, and a net run rate (NRR) of 0.743. That essentially means Pakistan need to beat England by 287 runs, while Afghanistan need an even more fantastical 438-run win over Australia if they are to surpass New Zealand's NRR.
If Pakistan happen to chase, this becomes even more unlikely a possibility, as they would need to chase a hypothetical target of 150 in 3.4 overs. -

Good to get into the semi finals once again.
What an amazing record we have in CWC’s even if we have actually won one yet (don’t get me started!)
India in the semi will be very tough, however it’s a ODI and anything can happen. We seem to have a fit squad now and I am sure we have a chance. Not as much as India but a chance it is.

An accurate assessment. This should be quoted in Wisden!

NZ's pop gun bowling outfit of the last few matches could still come back to haunt us. If Pakistan can beat England in its final game by 287 runs then they are likely to go through. Current England form suggests that if Pakistan bat first, this could be possible. If England bats first, then Pakistan effectively has no way of improving its NRR by enough.
So like scoring 400 and losing, although unlikely it is still possible to not make the semis (sort of wouldn't surprise me either)
-
@bayimports Pakistan's bowling has hardly been threatening either. We put 400 on them remember (plus they've had a lot of other big scores put on them this World Cup).
