If fury is this sloppy against usyk he is in trouble,
Usyk throws a high volume of accurate punches , and is very slick with his footwork moving in and out of range using a variety of angles

Prob a good wakeup call from Fury. Infuriatingly clever and stupid, depending on which day he wakes up, I suspect history will have trouble judging his relative greatness.

Excellent post.
He’s huge, awkward, skilful and tough ( that shit song by Chumbawumba springs to mind )
….but he’s also sometimes lazy, out of condition and the argument can be made his resume doesn’t compare to greats of the past ( still I guess he can’t help who they put in front of him ) He also seems to lack power for his size.
Really tough to see where his legacy ends up.

Have I missed posts on Parker actually winning a fight? Admittedly it was against a um not greatly experienced or heralded fighter but Parker did look good and he did show power. I worry he changed coaches way too late in his career.

he has looked ordinary before , and quite often against opponents he is supposed to beat easily,
Otto Wallen fight comes to mind , he was cut so bad he was fortunate it wasnt stopped ,
The usyk fight is massive for both fighters , the winner goes down as a great

@nostrildamus Kean has an awful chin in fairness. He was found out against Dillon Carman earlier in his pro career.
Parker's career is in denial these days. He's a gatekeeper, but seems to not want to admit to it, hence why he has fought C/D level opponents this year.
-
@African-Monkey Parker is top 10 in the world still, he wants a title shot or big $$ fight again before he takes the gate keeper role.
He may be fighting C/D level fighters but at least he is active- look at Ruiz calling out the Wilders- Fury and AJ's wanting a huge slice but not getting anything. Waste.
JP needs to keep ticking over and choose opponents smartly and before you know after Fury/Uysk or if Fury pulls the pin (never know) belts become available to highest ranked in the organisation.
Hygovic v JP foe IBF title in 12-18mths not beyond the realms -
@kidcalder You make a fair point, but Parker will be waiting a lot longer than 12-18 months for a shot as he's ranked 6 by the IBF and WBO, with guys like Hrgovic (who you mentioned) Wallin and Sanchez all ahead of him and have been waiting a long time themselves for an opportunity which they won't give up, so I do feel that if he wants another shot at a title, he'll have to take a few more risks along the way instead of feasting on the Massey's, Opelu's and Kean's of the world.

i really dont think he is that motivated by the title dream now , in all honesty with no disrespect i think he overachieved already by holding it once,
if a shot came along fine , but I suspect he is just trying to maximise his bank balance before its time to hang them up
-
Watched the fury fight again , tough watch ,
But i think there is enough there for them to give him the points without too much controversy with hindsight ,
Francis had the more dominant rounds but there wasnt actually very many , probably 2, but thats what people walk away remembering. Fury with his experience pinched nearly all the quieter rounds , the ones that dont make the highlights, but the scorers have to give the round to someone ,so his scorecard keeps adding up .
But it doesnt take way it was a lacklustre performance
-
@kiwiinmelb Absolutely agree he isn't top of the ladder for a title shot but being at the top isn't always guaranteed pathway to a title. I do believe he is first and foremost cashing in while hoping it happens but that is pretty much the same for them all under Uysk and Fury. Even AJ is now.
As far as i know JP has no signed promoter to get him fights and is presently getting fights via Tysons name.... -
@kiwiinmelb Yes you're right, but the only way he'll make decent money these days is by selling himself as a gatekeeper to up and coming prospects, or fighting as the B side.

I remember an interview with Andy lee before the second chisora fight and he commented on Joe being very well set up financially,
He mentioned how he has already had a few good paydays with his fights against Joshua and Whyte and invested his money wisely .
At least that’s something he has done better than tua .

That is good to hear. The amount of greats who end up penniless is ridiculous.
Fairly sure the only reason George Foreman is set up as well as he is is down to the grill he endorses.
Joe Frazier had to resort to sleeping in his gym at one stage when he should have been rolling in it after his fights with Ali.
To paraphrase actor/boxer Randell Tex Cobb the most expensive thing a fighter can do is to know Don King.

I found this on the interweb so not sure how accurate it is
Fury v usyk was supposed to be dec 23rd but it’s been pushed out to feb,
So it’s quite possible they are finding a replacement fight for the same venue / date to replace it

Not a bunch of guys you’d want to pick a fight with……
I can positively identify great fighters like Mike Tyson, Manny Pacquiao, Prince Naseem Hamed, Larry Holmes, Oscar De la Hoya, Olexander Usyk, Riddick Bowe, Lennox Lewis, Frank Bruno…..
Any others ? (I’m 100% doing this without any captions so I know I’m missing at least a couple )
Conor McGregor is in the picture too.

Amir Khan, Frank Bruno next to him, Bakhodir Jalolov next to Riddick Bowe, Jared Anderson with the sunglasses at the back, that Khabib guy from the UFC next to De La Hoya(could be wrong) looks like Shannon Briggs and Roy Jones Jr in the local gear.

Yeah I think you’re correct there. I don’t follow UFC as much as I should to confirm the others though.
