I blame Deans. You can argue how much influence he had, but he was the backs coach.

They both seemed intent on proving that you could have a winning ABs team filled with journeymen, as opposed to relying on stars

    Pffft hahaha what?

    Did you just skip 2003?

    Nonu and tana midfield

    Joey roks, Spencer, dougie, mils
    Jerry. Richie.
    Kev

That's because they tried the journeyman plan in 2001/2002 and then saw the Blues in 2003 and went fuck that works, then adopted their game plan.

You having a shot @MN5's biggest Domehead fluffer title? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Nah I just know Cullen was cooked in 2003
Domehead brought in some of my favourite ABs
I love pumping a great Wallabies team and the Boks by 50 at their house
    He brought back the Bledisloe

    Won 82% of his tests

Put some fucking respect on his name

He gave some pretty clear reasons for why he dropped Cullen but by Christ they went down like a shit sandwich.

I guess that comes down to was a case of was a 80% Cullen as good as 100% MacDonald/Blair ?

At the time, easily. At 50% he'd be better than a 200% Blair.

Who picked the backs and who picked the forwards between Mitchell and Deans?

Yeah, it was great when we pumped them with Henry's Blues blueprint (ba doom tish) not so great when we got outmuscled by the past their greatness Wallabies team because he forgot the Blues plan involved forward dominance.

KHunt is the respectful name I give him and is all he deserves.

But we really didn't see much of Blair at AB level did we? I vaguely recall he had a bit of a shocker but was otherwise injured (and may have played with a dodgy shoulder?) I assumed at the time he was there as they did not trust Carlos to kick goals and Blair had a great %.

Huh? Never heard that before, it 's always me.

Maybe I'm older or younger but both were deadset legends. I think each has advantages, maybe one on the bench?

We didn't need to after that display. A nightmare scenario is him and Lauaki on the field at the same time.

Any talk of Ben Blair vs CC is ridiculous, even arguably peak BB vs in decline CC talk is ridiculous

the only guy of the modern era I would have in a conversation about Fullbacks apart from Cullen is Ben from Accounts and even then it would be a cursory acknowledgement of his gifts as a player before a quick yeah - nah and moving on.

Pfft, couldn't even hold off the challenge of Palestine Dagg. ๐Ÿ˜‰

But to be serious, yeah, he's definitely in the conversation, BFA was great and his career ended in a shitty way (at least Mils lost his spot to someone better ... at the time).

Odd, that Dagg is overlooked in these conversations considering he played 60 odd tests. He is overshadowed by the two blokes either side of him.

Cullen stands alone but if Smith deserves a mention then so does Mils

Mils scored in the corner in 2003.

A 12 or 14 point swing. NZ goes on to win the SF and maybe the final? If they win the final Mitchell gets reappointed.. that means no Henry, no cartel, Smith would be just a former AB coach, no Hansen AB's etc etc
