Aussies in - silver is still a good effort. We were nowhere near good enough.

that is one of the most one sided refereeing I've seen in a long time, Aussie clearly not rolling away you blind fuck

anyone remember the 2010 womens world cupfinal vs England? That Aussie ref was so bent it wasn't funny

Yeah, Aussies definitely got the rub of the green. Not that they aren't the better side but the ref is very one-eyed.

Possibly no-try + lethal YC.

You can't win 7s with 6 on the paddock.

Silver. But it feels like nothing for the moment.

The YC to Woodman was the killer and Aust only got possession from a NZ turnover. The best team won. :(

Aussie get the gold on the back of a dodgy try... :)

Bad luck, we fought hard right to the end. Silver is still a great result.

This guy was mostly right, Woodman being stoopid was pretty predicable though.

The best team won, but I think NZ has played well in Rio. Sarah Goss, in particular, was fantastic during the final.

Considering the Aussies have been dominating all season, I'm reasonably happy with silver.

NZ coach: "some defining calls that swung the game a bit". Lol.

That was a high quality game - some of that one on one defence was oustanding.

Well done Australia - best team.

Was quite funny watching Mcalister - it seems tucking and running is a family trait.

Spot on, unfortunately.

Lack of discipline very costly - it's a very stupid play in sevens to try to stop a try by knocking the ball down.

Goss played very well for NZ. I was wondering when it was 7 on 6 and Woodman's time in the bin was clearly up, whether we should kick it out. We didn't look like we had the weaponry to score at that point.

Did the Aussies acknowledge us in their post match interviews?

I think they need to look at a rule whereby once the 2 minutes elapses, the sin binned player can automatically return the field from behind the goal line. The difference between being down to 6 players for 2 minutes or 4 minutes is huge.

Well done Aussie womens sevens. Best team going in, best team during, and now winners. Pretty conclusive. Is it churlish of me to dread the crowing of a public who are only going to see Aus beat NZ in rugby, and celebrates it as a "fantastic achievement" which would completely dismiss the work those girls have put in over the last 18 months to be the best side in the world?

Going in we would have taken silver wouldn't we? so this was a pretty good result. Go on you ANZACs!

I saw the equestrian, saw Sir Mark Todd's name, and thought he must be the coach, but there he is, front and centre. Awesome.

You know earlier on when we described sports we would get rid of if we ran the IOC? I would like to put forward Water Polo. That's not a sport, that's mates on a saturday arvo mucking around at your house. At the very least they should change the rules so that you have to play with a beer in one hand, and that beer must never be empty. Reserves should be on the sideline cooking on the BBQ.

Probably.

Tactically, I think we should have realised having seven players on the field is more valuable than one possession and kicked for the corner. I'm going to give the coach a black mark for that and also a black mark for not enforcing more discipline - crucial that you don't have someone in the bin in a knockout match. Used to be a major achilles heel of the Fijian men and possibly still is.
