RWC QF: All Blacks v Ireland

@frugby Yeah I had some sympathy for Smith as it "seemed" like a reflex reaction (though we will never know unless your A Smith yourself).
However those are the rules of the game and they were applied accordingly.
Our players know these rules and need to - dare I say it - discipline themselves to think instead of just reacting.
And it's not so much just that one example but a continuing trend of us giving away cards - that's my concern.
Was very pleased that Smith put it behind him and backed himself to get the intercept, shows great mental strength.
I've no problem with the penalty, but to have that upgraded to YC was ludicrous.

went a looked through the tweet comments...and everything kind of starts "if we ignore this claringly poor for form porter on the bind....the AB's are evil"
Enjoy those salty tears

As you'd know tho, the guide wants to look at linebreak opportunity and then penalty try if there is no cover defence.

it might not be illegal in its own right but neither is running around with you arm out...when you take someones head off...or in this slip your bind and drive in...then its illegal
Exactly my point: nothing is against the Law until it is. Don't get caught

That's what concerns me. They acknowledged there was the fullback and JGP had two ABs within 5m while he was near flat footed. All this about 30m out from the line.

@His-Bobness Nice write up, but I've hated the Irish (in a rugby sense) since coulda-doid and their fanbase started turning nasty (I also remember them supporting the Aussies over us in 91 even though the Aussies knocked them out) - add to that their players in front of the ball I highlighted earlier in the thread and of the top 4 teams they are the team I least wanted to win the RWC.
Plus, I had a run in with that prick Irish journo Gallagher on twitter who was being a twat over NZ PIs on twitter.
Plus plus, my Irish ancestry is of the Jewish persuasion, and although they took my Eastern European ancestor in after the odd pogrom or two in the east they still didn't make it a welcoming place for even my Ireland born Jewish ancestor. Which I guess had the benefit of getting to NZ eventually to help colonise my other ancestors.
In saying all that I'll still support them over England.

Yeah, penalty seemed fine but a card for that seems bloody stupid. FFS rugby we don't have to card everything.

Laws: interpret them as you will. Even if the linebreak is inside your in-goal.

@His-Bobness Great stuff as usual, Bob.
And, to quote - possibly Vince Lombardi - more succinctly:
"When you get in the end-zone - act like you've been there before".
A week of being gracious winners wouldn't have hurt us!

emotional outbursts after big wins are entirely reasonable. Otherwise what is the point of watching.

And my post game review was gushing of our vanquished opponents

@mariner4life I don't recall you writing a diatribe on why you hate Jonny.
Don't think those are necessary this week. He's done.
Looked like his kid was tearful and he gave him a wink - that's alright!
