@chimoaus not disputing Sexton is v good. He’s just not in the same conversation as Carter IMO. Carter could win a game on his own behind a retreating pack. Sexton needs his armchair.

Fair enough but I think peak Carter happened behind some very good AB forwards.

Not sure or really think so, but they certainly best team in world rugby at the moment. Jesus this is a clinic on how to play the game.

Ireland are outstanding. They must be massive favourites to win the RWC now.

@voodoo was being a bit lenient, forget $1.05, they should be $1.01

True, and I think you understated Sextons excellence, he’s not just better than Carter was, he’d also make a better 7 than Richie and could probably play hooker in a pinch

Speed of Habana and power of Lomu is what I’m hearing too

It's a genuine question if they can win the World Cup. They are a machine.

Ireland are just annoyingly good and seem to be every referee's teacher's pet in addition to that. And they stole Aki and Lowe, two of their best players. Many reasons to dislike them. I guess this is what people felt about the ABs circa 2010-2017 (except the stealing part wasn't even true)

@chimoaus most of the time, yes. But he also played some games behind misfiring packs. 2008 anyone?

See that’s what I’m talking about.

This ‘best team’ might actually win a QF in a RWC and then it won’t matter what happens after that, it will be shut the gate, undeniable, the best ever.

I think they are the best “team” if you consider the individuals. The fact they took 3 kiwis and turned them into outstanding test players speaks volumes.

I would still pick the 2015 ABs to beat them but that team was full of once in a generation players.

Scotland came back from 31-0 at half time against England at Twickenham several years back to draw 38 all (George Ford with last minute try)

I would have Ireland $1.40 favs against ABs next week (weather shouldn't be a problem)
    BUT
If we get Matthew Carley as ref next week - I will damn near dump the mortgage on Ireland

Nah, haven’t you heard, they bleed green. It was always their boyhood dreams to put on the green jersey.

@stodders Look at how many games they’ve won in a row. Look that the talent they have and how well organised they are.

If Ireland can’t win the World Cup with this magnificent team, they will never get their hands on the Webb Ellis trophy.

It’s going to be weird going into a QF expecting to lose, at least I won’t be as upset like vs France. In fact if we somehow win I will be over the moon.

Ireland really really super efficient. Nothing flash.

Excellent D and take their chances

Did think it would be closer.

@sparky I never said they weren’t a v good team. One of Ireland’s greatest. I just disputed if they were THE greatest team in the professional era

The ABs clearly still have the record and the RWC so until Ireland do that we will have to wait and see
