Boks to run away with it

Agreed.
But Ireland will beat the Boks….then Scotland will beat Ireland.
……and less deserving shit teams from the other side of the draw will get through to the quarters.

@booboo havent WR already said they will do it different next time, or did I imagine that?
If they havent, this will highlight how ridiculous the current way is.
Dunno. Haven't seen anything, nit that I'm looking ... but they royally fucked this one up huh?

It's been said.
I'll say it again ...
1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 all on the same side of the draw.
Oh give it up for fuck's sake
No one complained in 2019
Serves Scotland for not making it out of the pool in 2019; and Ireland and France for both failing at the QF stage
The Scots will gurn if they don't get out of the pool this time round, blaming it on the draw
Well fuck me they had a dream draw in 2019 and shit the bed against Japan
Substitute SA for France and the NZ pool looks pretty much the same
England's pool was the toughest on paper and Argentina went home
And the Wales pool is practically the same

Not sure the relevance of any of that to how silly the draw looks now.
In theory the seeded/semi randomised draw is a good thing to incentivise and reward play outside World Cups. Yes there's always a risk of a slightly lopsided pool when grouping in bands of four.
But I'll continue to complain that this was done waaay too early when so much could still change in the way of rankings, and when the effect of double points at RWC is still artificially affecting rankings.
What's the point of the double points? To make the RWC important? How is it not already the biggest thing going?
-
@MiketheSnow pretty sure people have pointed out how silly it is doing it so early and based on previous rankings in previous cups too.

I don't mind having the super strong pools like this (although it sucks to be Scotland), they just need to send the 2nd placed team to the other side at the Quarter final stage. We also need to mix things up a bit - Wales, Fiji and Australia seem to be in the same pool as of right.
-
I like the way Richie ( mccaw ) simplified it when the draw came up on the latest podcast ,
Not word for word because i listened a few days ago ,
He said something like , end of the day its the same as any other wc , qualify , then win 3 big games in a row.
-
OK to put it another way, which team(s) is this draw actually fucking up / unfair to?

I think if one of the top 4 contenders was on the easy side of the draw then we could say , thats not fair, look at their run, but the top sides are all in a similar scenario, so at least that part is even
ive come around a bit , it is what it is , at least we have some great match ups in pool play for viewing,
I remember in 15 , Aus , England and Wales in the same pool was entertaining.
But the worst part living in Australia , we could get knocked out in the quarters and the aussies make a semi, and the casuals will think they are better than us, I can see that coming
-
the draw only looks silly because the ended up all on the same side by random chance. If they were all going up different sides no one would care.
It's fucking great, and i hope to shit one of Argentina or Fiji go a long way.
I also hope the Scots push the Irish out because the lols will be endless
-
Also i think South Africa win this but i doubt there is much in it. Ireland v Scotland will be huge
