Black Caps Tour to Zimbabwe
-

First test starts tonight 730pm

Our first test without Bmac for yonks and Kane's first go as our test skipper.

A few changes for both teams since their last test (Zimbabwe's back in 2014) with probable lineups per cricinfo follows

Zimbabwe: (probable) 1 Prince Masvaure, 2 Chamu Chibhabha/Brian Chari, 3 Hamilton Masakadza, 4 Peter Moor, 5 Sikandar Raza, 6 Craig Ervine, 7 Regis Chakabva (wk), 8 Sean Williams, 9 Graeme Cremer (capt), 10 Donald Tiripano/Michael Chinouya, 11 Njabulo Ncube

New Zealand: (probable) 1 Martin Guptill, 2 Tom Latham, 3 Kane Williamson (capt), 4 Henry Nicholls, 5 Ross Taylor, 6 BJ Watling (wk), 7 Doug Bracewell 8 Ish Sodhi, 9 Tim Southee, 10 Mark Craig/Michael Santner 11 Trent Boult/Matt Henry/Neil Wagner

Pitch is supposed to be pretty slow. I think they may go with Santner and Sohdi as our spinners so a more likely line up may be

1 Martin Guptill, 2 Tom Latham, 3 Kane Williamson (capt), 4 Henry Nicholls, 5 Ross Taylor, 6 BJ Watling (wk), 7 Michael Santner, 8 Bracewell or Wagner 9 Tim Southee 10 Ish Sodhi, 11 Trent Boult

-

yay test cricket!

Aus playing in SL at the moment too. Bowlers game so far, with Aus in front on first innings despite getting spun out again.

Pakistan in England as well, series at 1-all.
-

oh, and the Indians fucked the West Indians pretty hard on the back of another Kohli double hundred, and a big all-round game for Ashwin

-

Thank goodness for the cricket otherwise I'd be struggling for anything to watch now Super rugby is finished.

Corey Anderson is injured, but is Neesham also not yet fit? Neither made the squad.

I'd like to see one of those two able to step up and genuinely be able to bat at five.

Guptill, Latham, Williamson, Taylor, Anderson, Watling, Santner, Sodhi, Bracewell, Southee, Boult could be bloody good. Six bowling options (seven with Kane) and seven genuine batsmen, plus Sodhi and Bracewell who can both hold a bat.

Guppy needs to find his way as an opener, Anderson needs to be able to bat at five and BJ at six - and we still have Nicholls, Neesham, Craig, Wagner, Henry, McClenaghan and maybe even Milne in the wings (plus doubtless a couple of others near test standard).
-

There's plenty of room on the Canes bandwagon mate, just a short flight to the capital for you. Everyone else is backing the Chiefs just for the hilarity factor of the Canes choking again.

Agree with everything you say about the Caps. Anderson and Neesh being injured so often is bloody infuriating.
-

Pretty epic win for Pakistan in the first match but it was the Root show in the 2nd. He's got his average up to 56 now, fuck he is some player.

Aussie continuing to show their batting lineup is pretty fragile. They should be routing that Sri Lankan side.
-

Where the suggestions that Taylor will bat at 5 coming from?

-

Haven't talked cricket for ages so will try and engage the brain and carry on from the last convos......

Is there room for Anderson AND the Neesh if both are fit ? part of me suspects not.

Keen to see Sodhi get an extended run, Santner is obviously there to turn the arm over too and easy to forget that our new captain is more than handy at this too.

Southee gets in on reputation it seems, time to find some form again son.

Bracewell to get a run of low scores but every now and again break out a semi decent score and commentators to rave about his batting ability.

I miss BMac.
-

Quite correct JK, I've only heard of one of their players but still a wee bit excited about this.....
-

You're probably getting mixed up with Hamilton, New Zealand mate....
-

If we're giving half marks put me down at 3.5 then.

Hamilton Masakadza

Craig Ervine

Sean Williams

Graeme Cremer... rings a bell, but not entirely sure...
-

Yes, he will be at 4 as Chris B suggested, I think there was only one suggestion in this thread that there would be Taylor batting at 5.

2 Actually.

Cric Info said it and JK also listed him at 5 in his team selection. based on that I was wondering if their had been some discussion about this from the team.
