From what I saw, VdM looked to have a horror first 50.
Penaud did a James Small on him and nullified his threat

He hobbled off with an injury which is a worry
Hopefully there’s another
South AfricanScotsman waiting in the wings ( I’m not excusing this shit pun ) just in case -

@Bovidae That Danty is a big lump isn't he. Camera planned to shots of all three (Ntamack, Danty and Baillie) in the stands, and they all looked pretty glum. Of course France will be France, but that game on home soil for them, gives me hope for the 8th. And for Scotland to run them that close at home, they are definitely beatable.

The difference in commentary for DuPont / anybody else was very very stark. He passes the ball / switches direction / runs 3 yards and the comms wax lyrical.
Anybody else does something better and it’s not really mentioned. Classic cases in the highlights there. That last Scots try the kicker is barely mentioned. Yet, duponts limited involvement in two French tries has him losing his shit.
I think he’s colossally over rated.
He’s an awesome player but he’s not head / shoulders above the rest of the planet.

@MajorRage ah the old Andrew Johns treatment
If he even touches the ball in a try scoring movement it's down to his incredible vision.
Right now that treatment on the NRL coverage is on Nathan cleary.
It's total bullshit -
It's Dupont's kicking game that is really impressive. His passing is OK, his defense very agressive and he can resist tackles thanks to his torso and legs strength. Oh, and he is always where he is needed.
Ramos is currently the best fullback in the world. He oozes confidence. -

Like a lot of players playing for each nation, the sum of the parts is severely impacted and compromised in their absence
NZ are not the same without Nugget
Ireland are not the same without Sexton
etcFrance are not the same without Dupont
Dupont plays for the favourites for the RWC
Ergo he gets the lion's share of the press & plaudits

France still have two more games (Fiji and Aust) before the RWC. You'd be wanting to put some players in cotton wool as it wasn't just Ntamack that went off injured, Baille and Danty did too.
Watch them rest players in the RWC opener against us, finish second in the pool and then go on to win the whole damn thing 😉

Yeah looks decent in the highlights I must say. That pool is gonna be compulsory viewing. Whichever way it goes a very good team will miss the quarters.

That would be such a “French” thing to do.

And a pool loss to Uruguay (as the new Tonga) for good measure.
