Been burnt by margins too much so hardly take them now.

Also pretty much never do half time full time options unless I think the team that will win is likely to start slow (took this first test vs Wales this year). Otherwise not keen as teams generally won't give it their all to be ahead at half time; it's the full time that matters for them -
I find betting somewhat easy to win at provided

a) you only bet when you actually have a hunch/strong opinion who will win. If you watch the whole game of whatever sport you will probably develop strong opinions on who will win next week. But if you are unsure don't bet.
stay clear of $1.10 and $1.20 odds for single game bets - the risk and reward isn't there.
c) use multis - ie 4 games each paying $1.20 each adds up to a decent return
d) don't get sucked in to backing the underdog when they are paying very attractive odds. Only back them if you think they will win, not because of the
payoff.
e) betting on the spread is ok e.g. Landers -3.5, but try to stay away from plus or minus 13 points. Unless you know it will be a thumping e.g. the Sunwolves.
f) there is a feature in the TAB you can take advantage of. If you are convinced a team will win e.g. the Hurricanes tonight, but find the odds are too low
e.g. right now they are paying $1.14, try the halftime/fulltime double - it is paying $1.27 which is a bit better, especially if you throw it into a multi with another
overnight result you are sure of.

Thanks

Two more things -

1) Don't bet on things that are just flukes like what will the first stoppage in play be? e.g. scrum vs lineout
2) Do bet on the next man out in cricket in tests and ODIs - it is usually obvious to spot which batsman is better out of the two of them at the crease.

Thing I find most effective is to stay away from $1.10 - $1.20 bets all together. It's a two horse race and those odds just aren't attractive enough to back any side.

Most effective is to only back those you have a strong hunch about and that are paying good odds ($1.70+). Then just set yourself a target and back your investment and return until you meet that target. I like points start best cause you can call the outsider to run them close very often if you follow rugby closely and the odds are usually around $1.87.

$20 at $1.87 5 times is almost $460 -
I have what no gambler's had before, a system!

Really says it all. Shouldn't be legal and it preys on people who can't say no.

But if someone is gonna do it then doing so with some knowledge seems a safer bet.

I made a bit on the weekend. Calling the semis will be much more difficult. Reading my own advice I should probably not bet at all, as I could see both semis
going in any direction. I think I will wait until the referees are announced. eg If Joubert gets the gig for the Lions then I will back them.

Pretty average weekend here. Think about $40 up.

Had a multi fall over due to Brisbane loss but other 4 legs one. Got that money back tho by backing panthers once they were well up.

Managed to win on Cowboys (win), sharks (points start), raiders (win), Tigers (points start) in nrl plus highlanders (win) and Chiefs (win) -
On a good run at the moment with 23 wins from the last 25 bets. One miss was a payout (sharks v Titans as drawn result) so you get half odds back. Original bet was @1.40 but fortunately I doubled up when sharks were down and I still expected them to come back to win with another bet at @ 2.70 so ended up marginally up on that. Other loss was when manly failed to fire vs eels.

Had an ok multi come in last night with canes, raiders, broncos and Bulldogs locked in I just needed Melbourne to win over Souths for a measly $1.10.....Sheesh that was close! -
Dunno about that actually as I've shared a lot of bets with mates and had a few copy me with larger amounts of cash and get shitty when they fall over. People need to be prepared to take the good with the bad and I'd much rather people do their own home work when it comes to betting for that reason

Btw, most of my bets are fairly low risk and therefore lower returns. There's nothing super special in there usually but will often take advantage of instances where I don't think the TAB have priced it right eg raiders vs sharks last night. All over that both outright and points start. -

anyone understands that betting on sports is a risk, if your mates don't then they are idiots

I'm just saying it's harder to believe someone is betting successfully when all you hear about is their wins after the fact. -
My mate has a good line for that

"Hey Greg got any tips?"

"No, you look like a blamer" -
Haha I'm going to use that. A good mate of mine at work and I always talk through our weeks tips as both take a very similar approach to our sports betting. He was overall leader in nrl virtual tipping a couple weeks back but I think number 3 now. Needless to say, he too gets asked for a lot of tips

Update to finish the weekend and picked up nice return on tigers over cowboys who aren't much chop without Thurston. Didnt bet on warriors as find it very hard to be either on them or against them as they've been so inconsistent over the years its just not worth the risk!

Not interested in penrith vs roosters tomorrow as roosters look to be on the improve and could get get up. Not sure enough to put $ on it though.
-

If anyone is interested in following a good punter for free on facebook and or twitter or his $1 app check out bad man tipster. Been pretty much only does football games does a $25 to $1000 challenge that takes about 11 bets over a couple of weeks. Hit 2/2 challegnes in July. Just hit his first one this month. (This isn't spam just if you are interested) Think his page has about 60k followers as there are a couple of fakes. My suggestions if based in aussie find one with a good sign up bonus max if out if you can and don't touch your bet only the bonus (read fine print as many make you bet yours first) .
