A rape can only be committed by a male.
It is a transphobic hate crime.

Well that's sexist

Not a labour fanboy. But vote for them purely for selfish reasons. Her position is untenable. It is up there with Darren Hughes' departure a number of years ago. She won't be back in parliament.

PIJF gone . Probably an argument in the days of declining media revenue to retain it for things like court reporting.
Some outlets in particular Stuff and the Herald made fools of themselves with the crap they put out due to this . Fortunately the Spinoff who was one of the main recipients they had no credibility to lose .
Stuff trying to pretend there was only a perception they’d lost impartially is hilarious. They were shit before they just became exponentially more shit once they were on the govt teat
I supported the PIJF. However some of the stories hired under its means probably didn't meet the bar in terms of public interest. If this fund was used how it was targeted it would have been better. Ensuring better court coverage, more media representation at out the way councils. It would have proved its worth. It did pretty much hold up the Marlborough Express. We need good local media and it is what has taken the biggest hit over the last decade. Just ovet a decade ago Newstalk had local reporters in about a dozen regional locations. Now it has none outside of Auckland, Wellington and Chch. Stuff newsrooms used to be full. Now they might have three reporters on a good day. Media outlets are so stretched that they often rely on media releases from central and local organisations just to get by. The PIJF was a good idea. Just don't know if it is as properly executed or had the right peramaters.

It definitely didn’t have the right parameters and the wording was so vague some outlets made fools of themselves trying to post content to comply ( maori visiting Antarctica anyone?) and if you didn’t comply it had to be paid back .
I think it needed to exist for court reporting, councils and probably a couple of other things that news outlets can’t really afford the manpower to cover . Unfortunately like most things associated with this government it became a farce.

Darren Hughes works for labour in the Uk , having a terrified teenage boy run naked from your house at 3 am is apparently not the big deal you’d think it is.
Last week I said law and order would probably cost labour the election now the justice minister has driven drunk, hit a park car, left the scene and resisted arrest . Nothing could sum up the incompetent tragicomic farce that is our government more than that.
All we need now to complete the picture is the Downfall parody video where Hipkins gets the call at 1 am .

God damn media spin that Kiri Allan was not in a good mental space.
Laughable.I’ll remember to use that defence next time I want to break the law
Quote that and a tough upbringing and the worst you'll get is home detention...

Timing couldn’t be worse for Labour, PIJF ran out yesterday and even Stuff has a an article that goes into forensic detail about the crash . Even better it happened on Monday morning so it can drag on all week, the question over to what degree she resisted arrest should be worth a few thousand clicks alone .
Ginny Anderson now has police and justice. Deborah Russell overlooked yet again, nice to see her publicly humiliated again after her behaviour towards women making submissions over the self Id bill.
Oh and David Parker want out of his job because Hipkins wouldn’t tax us more.

I think there may have been some exaggeration...
... heard report that it was failure to accompany a police officer, not resisting arrest, and careless not reckless and dangerous.
But either way deserved exit.
Im not a cop or a lawyer so I’d be interested to know how failure to not accompany a police officer is not resisting arrest? She was over the limit and driving like a lunatic too, is that not reckless and dangerous?
Since she returned to work it’s come out she was coaching new mps on how to avoid the FOIA , bullying staff and accusing red radio of not giving her partner a promotion because they are racists. It wasn’t that long ago she was touted as a future pm .

Weird angle on the PIJF. Plenty of media have done reporting critical of central government and govt departments under the label of PIJF. No one should be answering questions about her conduct around the arrest. The matter is under investigation and should not be played out publicly.

Really? Why else have they continually pulled their punches around labour’s shambolic governance and stories like the rapist in the pms office or the Shield Snorters flood response and given us endless stories about Arderns latest relatable parenting moment or the crappy birthday cakes she baked for Neve .
In contrast Todd Muller bought home a maga hat and a Clinton pin from the 2016 election because he’s a politics nerd , I doubt any labour mp in this government has had to put up with this crap. This is just a selection
