@voodoo lol that just fucking screams vanilla doesn't it? Look at the midfield. The forwards. Just safe workers everywhere.

Yep, thankfully the dome headed piston wristed gibbon copied Henry's Blues gameplan the next year and increased the non Cantab quota above two.

Goes to show the Crusaders couldn't be a tier 1 test side. Not that test side anyway

More like the Crusaders couldn't beat one of the best Wallaby teams of all time.

At the expense of Christian Cullen and others.

Yes they could. They just couldn't quite beat them twice. 🙂

Cripes the AB side in that era was weak - it was like having multiple equivalents of George Bridge in their position scattered throughout the team.

I remember sitting at an AB test, some silly women was trying to say Caleb Ralph was soooo much better than Jonah. Unknowingly the guy was playing test rugby on fucked kidneys and he was still better than that guy. He typified the cantablacks of the era for me. I just don't know how some of those guys got black jerseys, it was lazy selection

I’m disappointed Sam Broomhall missed selection for this match

A much safer option than future All Black coach Scott Robertson who was probably a bit dynamic at number 8 for this team.

Current NZR CEO and 13 for that match tried his hardest to correct that mistake for many years when it came to picking an AB coach... 🎣

Epitomised by the speeding tortoise getting a cap as a winger. Ridiculous.

It was similar to the ABs in the great Auckland era, they had a few guys get black jerseys and I'm not sure there wasn't someone better than them who missed out. Mark Carter springs to mind

Sounds like they are hoping for a crowd of 80k.

Collingwood vs Carlton the night before will likely pull a bigger crowd.

80k is a decent crowd in a non rugby city.
