Argentina v All Blacks

Fantastic first up performance for us.
It’s pretty tough to have your first test in Argentina, 2 weeks after the super rugby final.
Thought we were excellent in the first half. Focussed accurate and performing the basics well to give ourselves a platform to overwhelm Argentina.
Of course being 31-0 up at HT, in this day and age, means there will be a drop in intensity as we have already won the game, with Argentina trying to save face before the inevitable breakdown in structure when we introduce a flurry of subs.
You can’t fault the result or the performance tonight and gives us a standard to build upon as we bring other players into the side to take on the old foe, who looked impressive in Pretoria today.

@KiwiMurph Yes he did nothing wrong today. Not saying he was fantastic, but he was alright.
I think some people just want him to do bad so they can get their preferred choice in.

22m 7 times with the ball resulting in 4 turn overs.
In what way was Clarke responsible for 4 turnovers?

SANZAAR stats, seems right. Compare Narawa
7 runs for 79m, 11 tackles no misses, no turn overs
Edit. I fact you maybe right, seems excessive. Anyway he was ok, but there are miles better out there.

Narawa was excellent but 4 turnovers assigned to Clarke does not "seem right"
Having said that - keen to see Leicester at 11 next week.

@African-Monkey no one in their right mind would start Clarke ahead of LF at the moment.

@Stag Well he was there today, and he was solid enough, no complaints here. People said the same last year as well about how Fai'anaganuku should have been ahead of Clarke and had an absolute shocker against the Irish and wasn't seen again after that.
If Fai'anganuku comes back in for Clarke then yeah, you won't get any complaints from me about it, but going off Clarke's performance today, he was fine, not shit like some will try and say. I'd be happy to see Clarke again if he retains his spot.
I wouldn't have Frizzell usually, but he got a go today and was solid, fair play to him. He might have earned another shot next week.

We’ve peaked too early 😀
Aaron Smith’s play still very critical to us playing well. I thought he was excellent.
Team played well.
Argies were helter skelter. Their set up in attack is quite unpredictable. The 9 and 10 tonight were all over the show and very rarely looked in sync together. When they stood deep I thought our rush defence had them well covered.
It’s not always an easy style to play against so well done to the ABs especially the on field leaders for getting it done.

Qusetion, where does Jordan fit into the picture? I admit to not being a fan of his at 15 at this level, so does Narawa mis out. I thought both BB and Dmac looked good at 15.
Oh and to those that were wondering, I think we saw Lord answer why Ryan wanted to start him, he looks to have a huge future to me! nAnd as I keep saying 2m+ locks don't grow on trees.
Also Frizzell I thought was bloody good at back of lineout! -

During the last decade, the ABs often won games thanks to their bench. I fear this won't be the case anymore. There was a huge difference between the starting props and their substitutes, for instance.
Good news there are quite a few players that should be able to strengthen the bench, either by coming onto the bench or by coming into the starting xv and then a starter from today goes to the bench.

Why? It's generally accepted here that you don't post spoilers.
I think it's impossible to have a hard rule about that. It changes from match to match. In general if you're in a live match thread you shouldn't be surprised if you see another result or hints about the other games. Particularly after full time
When there's two NPC games played at the same time, it's more of a rule
With a game like this, AB's early in the morning and the Saffa/Aussie game overnight, posting about the other game should probably wait until a bit later
I deleted a couple of posts that were talking only about the Aussie/Saffa result as this game kicked off. It spoiled the result for me but I wasn't surprised I saw it in this thread

Rieko Ioane's defence has been excellent.
Stats have him missing 50% of his tackles (5 out if 10) so not so sure about that.
Midfield combo looked good tho apart from that

Can't remember the last time the ABs started their first game of the year looking so slick, normally a rusty slow start.
Also satisfying to finally see them properly attacking the opposition throw getting a jumper up early as opposed to their normal half arsed lift
