I never used to drink coffee. Then a few years ago with a newborn and no sleep, I swung by the coffee place en route to work and bot a breakfast blend.
Fuck me. Anxiety through the roof, uncontrollable shakes, absolutely terrifying. Didn't put two and two together and went to see a dr. 3 mins into talking he asked if I did anything different that morning - anything at all. Then it clicked. Turns out that coffee, like most drugs, is tweaked and tweaked to get more out of less. Thus, the caffeine levels now are much higher than when I quit coffee ....
Embarrassing.
And as others have alluded to, I never ever drink coffee on a hangover. Anxiety is not worth it.

I used to work in Yorkshire. They take tea drinking seriously. There was a swatch of tea colour ranges that were acceptable - outside that was sent back to be remade. Awesome times... but they thought plunger coffee was super fancy.
My experience of Yorkshire is they think anything south of J24 of the M1 is posh.

I don’t mind the Nespresso thing. It’s convenient, and so easy to clean the machine. I’ve even managed to fine tune a half decent cortado ( only 2 a day).
I tried using the reusable nespresso type capsules as well. Good idea in principle, but epic fail imo.
I’ve had a couple of gaggia machines in the past. Produced a nice coffee but what a pain in the arse to clean and maintain, especially when the wife feigned ignorance and I ended up cleaning the machine each time.

I have discovered Cold Brew coffee.
We are in the 3-4 months a year here when it's warm enough to fancy an iced coffee in the morning and it's absolutely brilliant. Tried it out when acting all hipster in California and really enjoy it. It's basically coffee minus the harsh bitter edge (which I acknowledge a lot of people really like).
Take 12-14 hours to make, whereby you basically brew it in a fridge. So I make 2 litres of it at a time. Serve it over ice 50/50 with milk and it's a cracking way to start the day.
Worth a shot for those that haven't tried it.

Personally I found it too mellow. Reminds me almost of hot chocolate, doesn't have the bite of hot coffee. I'm an aeropress guy

Maybe. Might have been the coffee. I bought a setup from Amazon. Just didn't have the astringency of hot brew
Ok, you are doing it right then as that is what I really like about it. Doesn't have the bitter kick of coffee. It's considerably more mellow than a hot freshly barista'd masterpiece, but during the warmer months, that suits me fine.
When we were in Dubai, I was drinking iced coffee's all the time and I don't think they quite tasted right. When they are cold brewed, then it works much better IMHO.

Weirdly I don't like sweet foods at all but I can stomach this. I tone down the condensed milk and brew a dark coffee. Do get its a different beast but I don't have the patience for what MR is talking about. Instant gratification is the name of my game.and it's an infrequent pleasure
