    @Victor-Meldrew Jean Condom

    Funnily enough was only talking about him yesterday afternoon

    A Northern Irish mate of mine recounted the time he went to Landsdowne Road to watch Ireland v France

    Willie Anderson was playing for Ireland and some wag in the crowd had a banner which read

    ‘Our Willie is going to break your Condom’

    Ritchie & Mourie for me. Both took teams which were in a bad place and brought to the very top,

    I don't disagree with your picks but would argue that Ritchie didn't takeover a team that were in a bad place - quite the opposite. They had one bad game that galvanised the team and prompted a lot of their later success.

    If you were to talk about taking over a team in a bad place and taking them to the top then Fitzy has it all over Ritchie.

    No love for Reuben Thorne 😉

    Yeah, Ritchie almost got handed the team on a platter from Tana (I still contend we would have won if Tana had stayed on).

    Kirky took over a team coming off a bad place and was the second choice so plaudits for him.

    @dogmeat

    I guess my point is how Ritchie Richie transformed the team post 2007. From what I've read, the changes in mental attitude and team leadership were immense. Sure, it wasn't just him, but he deserves much of the credit.

    @Nepia

    Not knocking Kirky or Rueben. Kirkpatrick, like Meads, took on a team on the slide (not helped by a succession of wonder-coaches who weren't) and Thorne was under-rated as a player and captain.

    I just think GH & Ritchie Richie were a cut above.

    Had to check that he hadn’t been poached by The Baldies

    Well he’s more ranga than some of the suggestions mentioned ( Brad Shields ? What the fuck ? )

    Like Dan Cole he proudly qualifies for both teams.

    Partnered in the midfield with Tom Shanklin

    Who could also represent the baldies

    I was referring to David Kirk after the Cavaliers etc not Kirkpatrick, and I don't rate Thorne as a player when he was captain (he was better before and after he was captain) and I don't really rate him as a captain either, I still remember Collins being sent out to face the media after the loss in 2003. Granted, that's mostly on the idiot coach, but GH and Tana had to come in a rebuild the ABs as a "brand" after Mitchell and Thorne.

    Still, Richie became a good captain after 2007.

    No I’ll put Thomas at fullback instead of Mike Brown. I’m very happy with my midfield.

    Shanklin doesn’t make the team. There’s too many Welshmen as it is.
