@canefan ha yep, what are they gonna do, retire?
If they didnt see this as an inevitable outcome, albeit it a bit sooner than anticipated, then they were pretty naive!
In fact, behind the scenes, they should have been making big demands on the PGA to improve things. Or based on the new special tournaments, maybe they did?
I agree, all this whining seems very to smack of naivete. A bunch of them are mates anyway

@canefan yea I think alot of the stuff in media was orchestrated.
By my count, the rebels won't even probably miss one Ryder Cup? Brooks, Bryson et al be like
Tiger Woods passing on that reported $800M be like

Currently in the US.
Spent time in Sausalito / Tiburon surrounded by houses / ppl worth 10mm plus.
Spent time in SF around ppl pissing and shitting in the streets.
Excuse me for not being happy for a whole bunch of ppl worth 20mm+ now being worth 50mm+.
Whole thing makes me ill.

It's pretty dire behaviour from Jay Monahan and the PGA tour.
More than happy to allow 9/11 families to lead the charge against LIV, and rail from the highest of horses. But now Jay's played 36 with Yasir Al-Rummayyan everything's sweet.
Also, this is not a merger. This is the PIF basically taking a minority stake in the PGA tour. Very likely it means the end of LIV golf. I hope it doesn't end the global spread of tournaments, but I fear it might end that as well.
-
@barbarian plenty to be rightfully pissed, but probably not too many can now stand on those morals and retire though.
Amazing how 1 man (Monahan) can effectively wield so much power though

These golfers are acting pretty damn butthurt over the LIV PGA peace deal. Are they more niave than I gave them credit for? What did they think was going to happen? I hope they didn't assume the PGA had their best interests at heart and that they weren't simply pawns in a power play?

Fair shout IMHO

Well, I suspect when they took a stand against LIV by not signing on for 200mm, I think they thought they would have had the backing of their employers who they were staying loyal to & had both publicly and privately made their intentions clear to stand together.
Instead, all that happened is that those that didn't stay loyal, banked 200mm, and ended up with all the same rights.
If I was Rahm or McIlroy, I'd take a look at my bank balance, realise I never had to work again and walk away forever.
EDIT: In my view, that is the only thing you can do if you want to be stand by your principles. Well, or quit the PGA and become a European tour only.

Back on action on the ground ...
Fox in the clubhouse 6 off the lead at The US Open. Tied 9th currently.
Still plenty out on the grass though.

'I'm gobsmacked': Kiwi golfer Daniel Hillier wins British Masters title after stunning final round
Great to see the young man win his first professional title in his rookie year. Earns himself a spot at The Open Championship.

My fav major, just ahead of the masters.
The first tee is pretty tight. Not many finding the fair way. Really interesting course. 5th is a super short par 5, only 480yards
As always with links courses, you need to take into account the prevailing wind. I played Royal North Devon once when the wind was opposite to the usual and a couple of guys drove a par 5. Normally lucky to get there in three.

Yeah mate, I’ve played a bit of golf before and my local track is links.
It’s a funny hole the 5th with second shot often longer than the first (I hate holes like that!).
