NRL 2023 + Internationals

Weird origin.
Lots of lead / momentum changes, decent crowd and some game breaking footy at times.
But an extremely dull game on the whole for the first 70 minutes. Can't help but feel the Adelaide experiment has not worked. Atmosphere for this game would have been epic elsewhere.
I thought it was a cracking game.
All QLD in the first 10.
NSW dominating territory and possession for probably the next hour, QLD looking like they’re just hanging on.
Controversial sin binning.
On script, QLD pulling a rabbit out of the hat when they’re under the pump and a man down. And the right team won.
-
Time for NSW to make some big calls I think with Tedesco and Cleary being in the firing line. It won't happen of course, but changes need to be made.
QLD just do the little things better all the time. They fight harder on D, they're more clinical on attack, and seem to get stronger no matter the situation.
-
You just have to love QUEENSLAND in Origin
Under the pump, behind on the scoreboard. Injuries. Guys out of position. Man in the bin.
Score twice in the last 10 to win.
Fucking love Hammer, what a player.
-
On holiday and haven’t seen shit, but sounds like an origin script. Hopefully all Dolphins get rested although didn’t help us last week

Great watch on highlights

I'm sort of with MR, i didnt think the game reached any great heights
Strange crowd. Lots of penalties. NSW dominating but not trying anything expansive. There wasn't much happening right up until Munster decided to show up.
That loss is 100% on the coach and the spine for NSW. Forwards domianted on both sides of the ball, tehy had all the field position on the back of it, and repeatedly came up with donuts. Look at the tries scored. One was off a dropped kick, one was a piece of luck off a poor Qld offload (that incidentally has been called a knock on in every single league game as long as i have been watching). All that field position and only one attacking try to show for it? Cleary missing as usual. Tedesco running down blind alleys and not passing. Luia trying but he's not that good.
Qld won on the back of their selection philosophy, pick the best players, stay in the fight, and wait for those good players to do something. Pick a bunch of guys in the pack who just love the shit work, and be patient.
-
Shouldn't be involved in Origin 2:
Fittler.
Cleary.
Tedesco.
Turbo.Pick some form players instead and a coach with a brain.
-
It’s pretty crazy to think that DCE and Hunt have become such important and good players for Qld. Much maligned, overhyped at times and not very good in club footy throughout their careers, but they are rock solid when they get that Maroon jersey on.

not very good in club footy
lol what? both of them are literally carrying dumpster fire clubs, putting in massive shifts with little support, and have been doing it for years.
This take is probably 5 years out of date now.
-
@mariner4life don’t get all Queenslandie one-eyed on me 😉
DCE’s been really really good for 2 years. Before that he’s been inconsistent with some brilliance in between.
Hunt is an interesting one because as a 19-20yo he looked like the next big thing. Had a couple of very good seasons then fell in a hole. The transition to the Dragons was a rocky one at first but he is playing very well and has been for the past couple of seasons.

@ACT-Crusader would have been quicker to type
yeah you're right, my bad
-
If you haven’t watched the highlights, a crazy finish in that Tigers and Raiders game. Game looked over in the first half
-
@ACT-Crusader Funny you say that because the reason I went to bed at halftime was because the Raiders looked comfortable and after watching that Blues v Highlanders rabble beforehand, I didn't want to watch another painful slow death of a game. Looks like I got that horribly wrong haha.

TBF, it wasnt a great game - it just had an exciting ending. There was a lot of poor play.
-
Couldnt believe what I was seeing on last 15 minutes. Hugely relieve at the final whistle. Resting Croker cost Raiders dearly with no composure when they had match won
I was a complete neutral, and it was one of the first non Warriors/Dolphins matches I've watched. I usually watched the half hour highlights for each game on Sat and Sun mornings. Might stick to that now.
-
Am usually not fussed about NRL/Warriors but just saw their scoreline and have to say that's an excellent result.
