I'm a bit of a Johnny-come-lately to the UFC, in that I never really watched it when I was living in NZ because I didn't think it was worth the PPV fees, but now its free to air in Asia I watch it a little bit. I'm a bit bemused by Hunt's reaction to Lesnar's failed drugs test. Would be interested to know the opinions of those who have watched it a while and what they think of the latest twist in the plot.

For me, it was quite clear that Hunt knew, or at least very strongly suspected that Lesnar was doping when he agreed to the fight. From memory there were quite a number of references to it in the build up to the fight etc, but he still happily took the fight (and the reasonable sized pay packet). Now that he lost the fight, and Lesnar has been flagged as a 'roid user (surprise, surprise), it kind of smacks of sour grapes or opportunism on Hunt's behalf to come out and ask for a bigger share of the purse, or to be released from his contract. Surely if you strongly suspected or knew, you'd of the potential doping prior to the fight, that's when you'd kick up the stink about it and insist on pre-fight testing.

I've watched a few Hunt fights, and used to follow him back in his K1 days, but to me it seems that he's now more of a prize-fighter type character who is good for entertaining fights and knockouts rather than a genuine title contender? With a record of 12 and 10 or whatever it is, surely he can't be that upset by the loss, which will in all likelihood be ruled a no-contest in the history books?

Hunt, who lost a unanimous decision to Lesnar at UFC 200 in the former heavyweight champion’s first fight in the Octagon for five years, pulled no punches in an exclusive interview with FOX Sports News (listen above).

They better do something or I want out of here, I want a release from my contract. You guys are just making a mockery out of us, you’re making a fool out of me, you make me look like an idiot.

“I lost on that night to some fing cheat. There’s no way he could weigh 265 [pounds] like me - he was about 500 kilos, there was no f*ing way he was weighing in at my weight. Hunt suspected Lesnar of using, but they've all been doing tests.. and I guess he had nothing to stand on..
But now Lesnar has been flagged, he's furious..
He's fought against a few cheats now, and for them to rob u of your moment must give u the shits.. look at Valerie Adams..

Records don't mean much in UFC.. anything can happen..

2.5 mil guaranteed plus more from ppv.. and u get to cheat? Sets a pretty dangerous precedent -

It's an awkward one cos roids don't automatically make you a better fighter do they ?
-

Of course they do, they make you bigger, stronger and more aggressive. All positive attributes for a fighter -

Particularly for Lesnar... that's pretty much his point of difference.

Although I think Hunt is digging himself a bit of a whole with this pay me or I walk angle, I can certainly understand his anger. They encouraged him to get in the ring with a roided up monster. And I don't use the term 'monster' loosely, Lesnar legitimately scares the shit out of me.
-

Well yeah of course but a guy still has to be able to actually fight in the first place doesn't he ? I don't think the point of difference is as great as other sports.

Well let's just ask the Russians and see what they think?

-

Average card over the weekend.

Big news was Holly Holm lost her second in a row. This time to #7 ranked Valentina Shevchenko, who won on a unamimous points decision after 5 rounds.
-

Here. We. Go.

Diaz vs McGregor 2. This should be interesting.

Does anybody really think Diaz is the better fighter? And now they are fighting with equal preperation time at the same weight.

I'm not a CMG fan, but I suspect he's going to win this.
-

P4P I'd argue McGregor is the better fighter. He has excellent striking and he's a very smart fighter. But P4P doesn't really count for a whole lot and Diaz is just a bigger fighter, with probably the best chin in his division. So I think it'll be another Diaz win.

That said, I'm not sure McGregor cares as much as his fans do. Ever since he signed with the UFC, he's been punching well above his position, signing one fight contracts with the UFC and negotiating for as much money as he can. He fucked up with the UFC 200 gamble but still, I think his only real goal is to get as much money as he possibly can and then move on when things turn pear shaped. I don't think he wants to be an idiot like Dan Henderson, Cro Cop, Tito or whoever and fight until he's a crippled old man.
-

CMG inside 2 rounds

-

Unsurprisingly some of the pre-match stuff has turned into a shit fight. The press conference ended up with bottles being thrown etc etc.

I do genuinely think these 2 guys don't like each other, and both are a bit wild untamed animal, but the sport should be careful to distinguish itself from the the WWE etc with these sorts of things.
