@Dan54 Crusaders are likely to be looking for a new 10.
Yep well McMillan already sent them Kemara, he wanted to go to Chiefs and it was suggested as Crusaders were interested it be best he heads that way. Think Kaleb actually went to Japan as part of his Chief's contract.
McMillan sent Kemara to the Crusaders ?.
I think the Crusaders offered him a contract and he accepted ,All I heard in the media and other places was he was not going to turn down a Crusaders contract when offered. You abviously haven't heard the young fella talk Chris, yes he was offered a contract at Crusdaers but he approached Clayton McMillan as he wanted to play for Chiefs, his area where he grown up and always supported them, he said look mate we loaded with 10s, so take Crusader's offer, also said he would get coaching etc down there. Both him and McMillan talked of it. I wish I could remember the rugby show where they were talking about it. Sometimes the Crusaders genuinely aren't player's first choice, and Chiefs have been first choice for a few players lately, and kind of good that kids remember where they from. They even talked at maybe having a look back at Chiefs in a few years.
No never heard that,I did see an interview with McMillan and he said they offered Kemara a WTG contract as they wanted to keep him.
And also a saw interview with Kemara who said he never wanted to turn down a Crusaders contract,
That he saw it as an opportunity to learn off Mounga in his last season and then a chance to push for the no.1 Spot at the Crusaders.I never heard the McMillan sending Kemara to the Crusaders story.
I think it was on rugby nation or one of those programs, and he definitely said McMillan had suggested he go to Cruaders as there was no room at Chiefs (See Trask being sent to Japan) and with any kind of luck it may work out for a return.
This is one of interviewa I saw about same time:
However, with the Hamilton-based franchise committed to Kaleb Trask returning from Japan in 2024 and steering the ship, the Crusaders were offering something they could not – opportunities, and soon.
“I had a good chat with [chiefs coach] Clayton [McMillan] before I made my decision, and he sent me down with full respect. The Crusaders offered me this opportunity, and I was taking it with both hands,” Kemara said.
He was in Christchurch on Thursday alongside fellow new signing Pepesana Patafilo, a member of Wellington’s NPC winning side, touring the Rugby Park headquarters they will spend much of their time at in 2023.
“I was always stuck in my mind I was going to be a Chief. Obviously, that didn't pan out. To be able to come down here, obviously legends have played here, especially in the 10 jersey, you could go on about it. I'm just thankful to be here and learn off the guys that are going to be around me.”
I guess that is at least some payment for the Saders sending ALB, McKenzie and Retallic to the Chiefs. About time the Chiefs started repaying the favour.
I really don't think that you think they 'sent' them north.
And you would be correct 😀

Yep, had more to do with too many 10s at Chiefs though, hell they even sending them to Japan!

Ok I had not seen that article.
Not a great choice of words from Kemara he sent me down doesn’t sound great from a Crusaders fan point of view. -
@Chris Yep mate and as I said I did see similar said on TV, and did think at time maybe making it clear he had been to MacMillan first etc wasn't the thing to say, especially when he indicated that with lick he maybe back to Chiefs someday. He actually played at Hamilton school with Hotham the 9 for Crusaders too didn't he?
By the way I wasn't taking anything away from Crusaders when I posted it at beginning, just amazed at how many 10s the Chiefs seem to have at maoment.

Have mentioned this in an earlier post about possibly paying Super Rugby players based in NZ more to keep them at home, also allowing overseas based players including Kiwis in Aussie super franchises to play NPC and become eligible for the All Blacks. Would this have some merit and could it potentially make it much more competitive for anyone vying to play for the All Blacks? Most people will argue that no one would want to play for Kiwi super teams, with more money this could curb that.
-
@SBW1 I wonder if that is what Razor maybe proposing. Sure he may want to call on RM and a few others if things aren't going well. The idea of an NPC strengthened by overseas based Kiwis vying for the All Blacks could create one hell of a concept.

Only if NPC was the pathway level to the ABs.

It would also kill SR even more so I can’t see your idea happening.
Plus those players would still be playing overseas so would have to have the overseas clubs releasing them etc to play in another comp.
Also those players if playing for the ABs would be playing virtually all year around with no break. -
@Chris More money needs to be poored into our Super teams that is for certain. For the concept to work, it would depend on each club's willingness to release players. This is all hypothetical of course, we are talking about URC which has a number of potential candidates, Japan Top League, Kiwis playing in Aussie and Drua super teams and MLR. Our domestic Super teams wouldn't necessarily be compromised if more money was paid, even if Kiwis did leave there would be no shortage of foreigners wanting to play in NZ.

Jesus, why are we in an age of rubbish articles of no substance?
What is this clash? All the article says is one coach is open to one thing, and another doesn't think something is a good idea. How the fuck is that tension building?
Also, the article was published the day DMac resigned and they haven't corrected it.
This off field stuff is shitting me at the moment.
